Auckland City Natural Heritage Fund Allocation 2013/2014 – Funding Round 2

 

Michael Ngatai, Biodiversity Advisor was in attendance to present to the Great Barrier Environment Committee in respect to this report.

Member JJ Gilbert declared an interest in this item and took no part in the discussion or voting on the matter in particular items b) i) and ii).

 

Resolution number GBESP/2014/22

MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member CA Spence:  

That the Great Barrier Environment Committee:

a)      Receives the Auckland Natural Heritage Fund Allocation 2013/2014 – Funding Round 2 report.

b)      Approves the following grant allocations:

i)       Allocation of $24,126 to application ACNH1314012 from Dean Medland as a contribution towards fencing materials and native plants.

ii)      Allocation of $782 to application ACNH1314013 from Murray Staples as a contribution towards rat traps, rat boxes, tracking tunnels and peanut butter.

iii)     Allocation of $5,750 to application ACNH1314014 from Alison Walker as a contribution towards track cutting and pest control.

iv)     Allocation of $4,560.60 to application ACNH1314015 from Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre of NZ as a contribution towards wildling pine control and requested tools.

v)      Allocation of $7,187 to application ACNH1314015 from the O’Shea brothers as a contribution towards fencing materials, pipe, contract labour and post hole borer hire.

Further survey for leptinella species on Great Barrier Island

 

Michael Ngatai, Biodiversity Advisor was in attendance to present to the Great Barrier Environment Committee in respect to this report.

 

 

Resolution number GBESP/2014/23

MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member JJ Gilbert:  

That the Great Barrier Environment Committee:

a)      Receives the Further Survey for Leptinella in Great Barrier Island report.

b)      Notes that development of a detailed conservation management plan for the Leptinella tenella site at Awana is being funded from regional biodiversity budgets.

Species Prioritisation Framework

 

Michael Ngatai, Biodiversity Advisor was in attendance to present to the Great Barrier Environment Committee in respect to this report.

 

 

Resolution number GBESP/2014/24

MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member IM Fordham:  

That the Great Barrier Environment Committee:

a)      Receives the Species Prioritisation Framework report.

b)      Requests officers for further information on a species prioritisation list specific to Great Barrier Island and appropriate management approaches of this.

Infrastructure and Environmental Services Update Report

 

Resolution number GBESP/2014/25

MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member CA Spence:  

That the Great Barrier Environment Committee:

a)           Notes the information in the Infrastructure and Environmental Services update report.

b)          Requests that the Auckland Council Chief Operating Officer be asked to identify a role within his division to lead on investigating septic waste management and disposal on Great Barrier.

c)          Requests that the proposed report to the Committee on rabbit control be preceeded by a workshop with the Committee and all parties involved in the programme, including contractors.

Resolution number GBESP/2014/26

MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member IM Fordham:  

That the Great Barrier Environment Committee:

a)      Receives the Sea Change April 2014 News and the Great Barrier Island Schools Whangapoua Shellfish Sample Report 2014.

b)      Thanks John Ogden, local schools and the Department of Conservation for the work on the shellfish report.
