Achievements

 

 

A document noting Auckland Council Groupís achievements for November† was tabled. A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website.

 

Cr C Darby also acknowledged Mitchell and Stout Architects for winning awards in two categories of the NZ National Architecture awards (Heritage and Public Architecture) for Te Uru/Lopdell House and Warren & Mahoney Architects for MIT Manukau and Transport Interchange, in the Education category.

That the Governing Body:

a)††††† receive the presentation by Christine King regarding the Cities for the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women programme.

b)††††† request that a report on the gender issues raised by Cities for the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women be presented to the Community Development and Safety Committee in February 2016.

Changes to local dog access rules

That the Governing Body:

a)††††† note the Albert-Eden Local Board has made final decisions on changes to local dog access rules in accordance with its delegations.

b)††††† approve the following alternative local board summer times and season:

a)         approve Attachments C to H of the agenda report as Auckland Councilís response to the Local Government Commissionís information request.

b)        authorise the Governance Director to make minor amendments to Auckland Councilís response to the Local Government Commission, as discussed at the meeting.

Governing Body decision-making during the 2015/16 Christmas recess

 

Resolution number GB/2015/122

MOVED by Mayor LCM Brown, seconded by Cr W Cashmore:

That the Governing Body:

a)††††† delegate to any two of either the mayor or deputy mayor, and a chairperson of a committee of the whole, the power to make urgent decisions on behalf of the Governing Body or its committees between the last scheduled Governing Body meeting in December 2015 and the first meeting of the Governing Body or other relevant Committees in 2016.

b)††††† agree that if a matter of major significance arises during the 2015/2016 Christmas recess period, an extraordinary meeting of the Governing Body will be called.

c)††††† note that the first meeting of the Governing Body in the New Year will be scheduled for Thursday 28 January 2016, but will only be held if required.

This resolution is made in reliance on section 48(1)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and the particular interest or interests protected by section 6 or section 7 of that Act which would be prejudiced by the holding of the whole or relevant part of the proceedings of the meeting in public, as follows:

Kaipara Harbour† Ė Memorandum of Understanding with councils to establish joint working party

 

Resolution number GB/2015/124

MOVED by Cr R Clow, seconded by Mayor LCM Brown:

That the Governing Body:

a)††††† agree that the draft Memorandum of Understanding with the Kaipara District Council, the Northland Regional Council, and the Whangarei District Council, concerning the Kaipara Moana Settlement Negotiations between the Crown and Ngāti Whātua and the establishment of a joint working party, be signed by the mayor and the chief executive.

b)††††† delegate to the chairperson of the Treaty of Waitangi Working Party the power to approve any minor amendments to the final form of the Memorandum of Understanding arising from considerations of the draft Memorandum of Understanding by Kaipara District Council, Northland regional Council or Whangarei District Council.

c)††††† appoint Crs LA Cooper and MP Webster and Rodney Local Board Chair Brenda Steele onto the Kaipara Moana Joint Working party.

d)††††† agree that the decisions be restated in the open section of the minutes, and that the report be made publicly available at the conclusion of negotiations.
