a)         confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday, 19 October 2015, as a true and correct record.

Update - 2016 local government elections

 

Glyn Walters, Manager Election Planning and Teresa Turner, Community Engagement Lead, Elections were in attendance and presented a PowerPoint presentation.

That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)      receive an update on the communications and engagement workstream for the 2016 Auckland local government elections.

Pedestrian safety and older people

 

 

 

A letter regarding safety on footpaths for seniors in the city from Deborah Yates, Waitamata Local Board Member was tabled at the meeting.

 

A copy have been placed on the official minutes and are available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

 

Resolution number SEN/2015/50

MOVED by Member J Blakey, seconded by Member RJ Northey:  

That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         use discussions with Auckland Transport to promote an awareness of the needs of older people as pedestrians.

b)        request the council look into solutions for the safety of pedestrians particularly in the city centre and report back to the panel with update.

c)      note this matter will also be raised with the Public Transport Accessibility Group.

Update Maungawhau - Vehicle restrictions

The Chair provided the panel members with a brief update on events attended and also tabled a letter that was sent to the editor of the Herald regarding Inner-City Youngster’s Have Region’s interest at Heart.
