Mihi Te Huia opened the meeting with a karakia.

 

1          Apologies

  

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         noted the apologies from David Wong Hop, Roger Fowler, Joan Lardner-Rivlin for lateness and Sonny Niha for absence.

 

 

2          Declaration of Interest

 

Cr D Newman declared an interest in item 6 - Review and update of Low Carbon Auckland Delivery of an Auckland Climate Action Plan.

 

 

Member R Fowler entered the meeting at 10.38am.

 

 

3          Confirmation of Minutes

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         confirmed the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday, 19 March 2018, as a true and correct record.

 

 

4          Extraordinary Business 

 

            There was no extraordinary business.

Liaison Councillor's Update

 

A document with an update of Cr D Newman’s activities was tabled in support of the item. A copy has been placed on the minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         noted the verbal update from Cr Daniel Newman, Liaison Councillor for the Seniors Advisory Panel regarding the following:

·         Environment and Community Committee – Age-friendly City report

·         Marae development funding

·         Haumaru housing.

Review and update of Low Carbon Auckland Delivery of an Auckland Climate Action Plan

 

Cr Daniel Newman declared an interest in this item and took no part in discussion.

 

Alec Tang, Principal Specialist, Corporate Sustainability and Lauren Simpson addressed the panel and gave a PowerPoint presentation. A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council as a minutes attachment.

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)      received the presentation on the Low Carbon Auckland Delivery of an Auckland Climate Action Plan.

Kia Whai Whare Tatou Katou: Regional, cross sectoral homelessness plan for Auckland

 

Kimberely Howell, Policy Analyst and Peter Chaudry, Policy Analyst were in attendance and gave a powerpoint presentation.

A copy of the presentation has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)      provided feedback on the development of the Kia Whai Whare Tatou Katou: Regional, cross sectoral homelessness plan for Auckland

b)      agreed panel members will attend the August/September 2018 engagement events on  Kia Whai Whare Tatou Katou: Regional, cross sectoral homelessness plan for Auckland, to provide a population specific voice.

Office for Seniors Strategy for an Ageing Population Discussion Document

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         noted the discussion on the submission to the Office for Seniors on the Strategy for an Ageing Population Discussion Document.

a)      noted the update on the Long-term Plan (10-year budget) and Auckland Plan

b)      noted the update from the 10 July Environment and Community Committee report on World Health Organisations Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

a)   received the update on the Mosaic Ageing Conference.

a)      received the update on the Seniors Advisory Panel work programme.

 

 

Member Mere Tunks closed the meeting with a karakia.
