Lisa Mullions - free community employment and job search coaching service based at the Glenfield Community Centre

 

Lisa Mullions was in attendance to address the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum regarding the free community employment and job searching coaching service she provides.

Sonny Vagana - Pacific Youth Programmes

 

Sonny Vagana was in attendance to present to the Kaipatiki Local Board regarding Pacific Youth Programmes.  This presentation was supported by a short movie.

Steve Hodges - On Board Skate and Scooter

 

Steve Hodges was in attendance to address the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum regarding On Board Skate and Scooter programme.  A PowerPoint presentation titled ‘On board Skate School’ was provided.

Peter Wolf was in attendance to address the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum regarding Kaipātiki Youth Development Trust.  A PowerPoint presentation titled ‘KYDT (Community Based Social Service Provider)’ was provided.

George Andrews - NZ China Friendship Society

 

George Andrews was in attendance to address the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum regarding NZ China Friendship Society.  Mr Andrews provided a photo of the prominent members of the society and a plan for the Rewi Alley Reserve redevelopment to become a Chinese and NZ native garden for all to enjoy.

Ross McEwan - Men's Shed

 

Ross McEwan was in attendance to address the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum regarding the Men’s Shed success and ongoing growth.  The premises they occupy will need to be expanded if growth continues.  Other Auckland Men’s Shed’s can be found in Henderson and Mangere.

a)         receive the deputation from Ross McEwan and Dave Whiting regarding the Men’s Shed, and thank them for their attendance and presentation.

b)        congratulate the Men’s Shed team for the ongoing growth and success of the Men’s Shed.

8.7

Richard Hursthouse - Forest and Bird

 

Richard Hursthouse was in attendance to update the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum on Tuff Crater plantings and weed control.

The Board was provided with a PowerPoint presentation showing the before and after pictures on the Tuff Crater plantings.  Also included in the presentation were slides on the re routing of Little Shoal Bay cycle and walking track to avoid the endangered NZ dotterel nesting areas.

Karen Jaggs-Cartwright - Birkdale Community House

 

Brian Putt, Cheryl Martin, Carla Van Walen, and Karen Jaggs-Cartwright were in attendance to address the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum regarding the community events that have been held in Beach Haven. These events have been received very well by the community.

Janet Johnson - Citizens' Advice Bureaux (CAB) North Shore

 

Janet Johnson was in attendance to address the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum regarding services that the three Citizens Advice Bureaux provide within the Kaipatiki community. The document pointed out the increases in the services provided, and the Northcote accessibility issue.

Resolution number KAI/2014/11

MOVED by Member G Gillon, seconded by Deputy Chairperson A Hartley:  

That the Kaipātiki Local Board Community Forum:

a)         receive the deputation from Janet Johnson regarding the North Shore Citizens’ Advice Bureaux (CAB) operations, and thank Ms Johnson for her attendance and presentation.

b)        thank the managers of Birkenhead, (Rana Summers), Glenfield, (Lesley Williams), and Northcote, (Francis Kwan) for their attendance and work they have done in their community.

c)         thank CAB volunteers in Kaipatiki for their time and hard work in the communities of  Birkenhead, Glenfield and Northcote.

d)        request officers investigate the accommodation needs of Northcote CAB, and report back to the Board as soon as possible.
