LIGHT IT UP FOR THE WAITAKERE
Aim
To enable the community (individuals, families, sport clubs, groups and organisations) to have access to a safe and well lit facility to participate in physical activity, both as a sports/fitness training facility and a family friendly recreational zone.
To access funding to have the lights at The Douglas Track and Field (adjacent to The Trusts Arena) turned on for 2 hours on Monday and Wednesday evenings for 15 weeks May-September 2014.
Objectives
· To promote the track and field as a community facility for all to use, throughout the year.
· To increase community participation in physical activity through the winter period.
· To support the community by providing a safe and well lit area for individuals and families; this is a known barrier for parents wanting to take part in physical activity.
· To support current users of the Douglas Track and Field; clubs and sports teams could use the track and field as an evening training site.
· To use this facility as a way of getting the community together (with a shared goal of being active).
· To support the running of a successful community programme, run by Te Whanau o Waipareira, which is targeted at the Maori community.
· To support the continuation of other community projects currently hindered by the lack of lighting.
· To allow members from the Waitakere City Athletics Club to extend their otherwise off season training.

Deputation from Massey Means Business
About Us
Massey Means Business provides local businesses with access to a local business network, a job vacancy site to advertise their vacancies locally and a local search engine function where local residents can search for local tradespeople and services.
Massey Means Business includes the geographical area from the bottom of Don Buck Rd (Universal Road roundabout), across and up to Hobsonville Pt/Upper Harbour Bridge, across to Kumeu and down to Taupaki. (See map to the right). If you are unsure if your business is located within this geographical area please contact us.
Massey Means Business Network Coordinator Role
The Coordinator Role has been critical to the success of Massey Means Business. The Coordinator - Barbara Joy - is the 'on the ground' contact with local businesses to promote Massey Means Business, Massey Match and the Buy Local Directory. HMLB Funding for the Coordinator Role in 2013 enabled the Network to grow to 80+ businesses, and also enabled Massey Means Business to launch two new features - the Buy Local Directory and Massey Match.
Massey Means Business has three components:
Massey Means Business Network: http://masseymeansbusiness.co.nz
A web based Network of Massey businesses including small to medium enterprises (SME), home based businesses and retail operators located in the Massey area.
The Network provides access to a website, regular articles on issues affecting Massey businesses, opportunities to engage with what is happening in the local community and North West developments, and resources and tools to support business. The website is located at http://masseymeansbusiness.co.nz
Buy Local Directory
The Buy Local Directory is a searchable directory. Many people in the community wish to 'buy local' and support their local economy. The Buy Local Directory enables the Massey and North West community to search for local tradespeople, services and products.
The local community can search for a trade or service in the Massey and North West area via the 'Buy Local Directory' tab located at http://masseymeansbusiness.co.nz
Massey Match
Massey Match is an employment vacancy site where local employers from Massey and the North West can list their employment vacancies and the Massey community can search for local jobs and employment focused training opportunities. www.masseymatch.org.nz/
