MOVED by Chairperson WB Cashmore, seconded by Deputy Chairperson AQ Cole:  

That the Rural Advisory Panel:

a)      accept the apologies from Wendy Clark, Trish Fordyce, Richard Gardner, Callum McCallum and Peter Spencer for absence, from Cr Penny Webster for absence on Council business and from Bill Millar for early departure.

2          Confirmation of Minutes

 

Resolution number RUR/2014/24

MOVED by Chairperson WB Cashmore, seconded by Deputy Chairperson AQ Cole:  

That the Rural Advisory Panel:

a)         confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Friday, 6 June 2014, as a true and correct record.

CARRIED

 

Member Geoff Smith requested that a note be placed on the minutes to reflect that he was not satisfied with the response to his question regarding a litmus test for equestrian facilities (Item 6.3) provided at the 6 June 2014 meeting.

 

 

 

3          Additional items for consideration, not on the agenda

 

           

3.1

Compliance in the Dairy Sector

 

Kate Mandis, Compliance Advisor and Alan Moore, Team Leader Coastal, Natural Resources and Specialist Input, provided a report on compliance for the coming season in the dairy sector and how that will relate to the past season.

 

A PowerPoint presentation was provided, a copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachment.

Draft Local Board Plans - key actions      

 

Deputy Chair North Thomas Grace and Deputy Chair South Alan Cole presented the key points (pertaining to the Rural Advisory Panel) about their wards’ Local Boards plans.

 

Alan Cole provided a PowerPoint presentation and Thomas Grace provided notes in support of his presentation, copies have been placed on the official minutes and are available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

 

Thomas Grace and Alan Cole were thanked for their presentations.

Environmental Strategic Action Plan        

 

Karen Creagh, Specialist Water, provided a PowerPoint presentation, a copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

Regional Pest Management Plan Review 

 

Dave Marshall, Principal Specialist Natural Heritage and Nick Waipara, Biosecurity Principal Advisor,  provided a PowerPoint presentation, a copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

7          General Business

 

Auckland Transport review on unformed (paper) roads – Doug Gellert highlighted that           this review will be coming up in the future.

 

            The meeting agreed that the 1 August 2014 meeting be cancelled, due to the unavailability           of Cr WB Cashmore, Cr MP Webster, Thomas Grace, and a number of supporting   staff who would be attending a tour of the northern region.

 

 

 

3.00 pm                                              The Chairperson thanked Members for their attendance and attention to business and declared the meeting closed.
