Clarification of decision-making for Mangere Mountain

MOVED by Chairperson CE Fletcher, seconded by Cr CM Casey:  

That the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee:

a)         amend the decision-making allocation for land contiguous with Te Pane o Mataoho/Te Ara Pueru (Mangere Mountain) so that all parcels of council-owned or administered contiguous land be removed from the definition of “regional park” and become “local park”, specifically the following parcels:

i)       Pt Allotment 202 PSH OF Manurewa

ii)      Allotment 379 PSH OF Manurewa

iii)     Allotment 262 PSH OF Manurewa

iv)     Paper Road (Pt Mangere Mountain Education Centre grounds)

v)      LOT 24 DP 10685

vi)     Paper Road (Access to Ridgemount Road)

vii)    Lot 1 DP 44558

viii)   Lot 29 DP 57347

ix)     Lot 1 P29452.

b)         note that the possible vesting of administrative responsibility for these parcels of land to the Tupuna Maunga o Tamaki Makaurau Authority will be considered by council in the future, including early engagement with Mana Whenua.

Proposed Classification of Smiths Reserve, Papakura

 

Iwi responses to the proposed reclassification of Smiths Reserve was tabled.

A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

 

Resolution number PAR/2014/107

MOVED by Deputy Chairperson CM Penrose, seconded by Cr JG Walker:  

That the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee:

a)      classify part (approximately 2100m2m2) of Smiths Reserve, Papakura as local purpose (community purposes) reserve and part (approximately 10700m2) as recreation reserve pursuant to section 16(1) of the Reserves Act 1977 as shown in Attachment A of the agenda.

Parks, Sports & Recreation - Manager's Report

 

Grant Jennings, Helen Biffin, Managers Local Sport & Parks West and Iris Donoghue Chairperson of the Whau Coastal Walkway Environmental Trust presented a power-point presentation on the Whau Environmental and Educational Coastal Walkway project.

A copy of the 2017 World Masters Games venue map was tabled.

A copy of the supporting documents have been placed on the official copy of these minutes and are available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

 

Resolution number PAR/2014/108

MOVED by Deputy Chairperson CM Penrose, seconded by Cr CM Casey:  

That the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee:

a)      receive the update report from the General Manager – Parks Sport and Recreation.

b)      receive the presentation by the Whau Coastal Walkway Environmental Trust

c)      commend the Whau Coastal Walkway as an element of Auckland’s greenways and walkway network.

Sustainability of Sport Fora - Update

That the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee:

a)         note the early themes resulting from the Sustainability of Sport Fora to date

b)         forward the Sustainability of Sport Fora progress report to local boards and the Independent Maori Statutory Board.

c)         thank Lisa Tocker, Duncan Chisholm, Sarah Beaman and Tam Whte for the work undertaken on the Sustaniability of Sport Fora.

Sport and Recreation Grant Investment

 

 

 

Resolution number PAR/2014/110

MOVED by Cr WB Cashmore, seconded by Deputy Chairperson CM Penrose:  

That the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee endorse the work programmes required to review and report back on:

a)      work with third party asset based sport and recreation organisations to review the legacy agreements, investigate future funding options, seek input from Local Boards and report back to the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee in 2015 on an investment approach for 2015/2016 and beyond,

b)      future investment into Aktive (Auckland Sport and Regional Sports Trusts) for the delivery of priority initiatives from the Auckland Sport and Recreation Strategic Action Plan subject to confirmation of funding in the 2015-2025 Long Term Plan.

That the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee:

a)      exclude the public from the following part(s) of the proceedings of this meeting.

The general subject of each matter to be considered while the public is excluded, the reason for passing this resolution in relation to each matter, and the specific grounds under section 48(1) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 for the passing of this resolution follows.

This resolution is made in reliance on section 48(1)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and the particular interest or interests protected by section 6 or section 7 of that Act which would be prejudiced by the holding of the whole or relevant part of the proceedings of the meeting in public, as follows:

That the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee:

e)      confirm that there be no restatement of the confidential report for the acquisition of land for open space in Huapai, or the resolutions of the committee until settlement of the purchase, and only then is the resolution to be restated.
