Steve Oxborough and Peter Blackwell - Marine code of conduct

 

Documents were tabled in respect to this item. A copy of the tabled documents has been attached to the official copy of these minutes and can be viewed on the Auckland Council website.

 

 

Steve Oxborough and Peter Blackwell were in attendance to present to the Great Barrier Environment Committee regarding a proposed marine code of conduct on Great Barrier Island.

Infrastructure and Environmental Services Update Report

 

Resolution number GBESP/2015/7

MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member JC Cleave:  

That the Great Barrier Environment Committee:

a)           Notes the information in the Infrastructure and Environmental Services update report.

b)           Notes that it has been advised that the proposed solid waste targeted rate for Great Barrier Island will be up to $1700, this was discussed at the on island Long-term Plan Have Your Say event held on Saturday, 21 February and strongly opposed by most of those present who spoke.

c)           Seeks confirmation from Solid Waste that the budget for the Waste Educator role will continue for the 2015/2016 financial year and beyond.

Auckland Council weed management practises on Great Barrier Island

a)      Receives the report on Auckland Council weed management practises on Great Barrier Island.

Update on Aotea Great Barrier Ecology Conversations

 

Resolution number GBESP/2015/9

MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member JJ Gilbert:  

That the Great Barrier Environment Committee:

a)           Receives the report on the proposed Aotea Great Barrier Island ecology conversations.

b)           Confirms its appointment of Marie McEntee and Shirley Johnson to lead these conversations.

c)           Notes that these appointments and the ecology conversations project will be communicated widely to residents, ratepayers and stakeholders in March prior to project commencement.

a.      Receives the final report from Emma Cronin on Migratory Seabird Advocacy across the Pacific: the Black Petrel Case Study, Environmental Initiatives Fund December 2014 final report from Windy Hill Rosalie Bay Catchment Trust and the Windy Hill Sanctuary annual report.
