7          Ward Councillor’s Update

 

An opportunity is provided for the Whau Ward Councillor to update the board on regional issues he has been involved with since the last meeting.  

 

8          Deputations

 

8.1       Massey Community Men's Shed

Purpose

1.       Representatives from Massey Community Men’s shed will be in attendance to present to Henderson-Massey local board requesting their support to establish a community workshop facility in the Massey/Westgate area.

 

Recommendation

That the Henderson-Massey Local Board:

a)      Receives the deputation from representatives of Massey Community Men’s Shed and thank them for presentation.

8.2       West City Band - West Auckland's Premier Community Concert Band

Purpose

1.       Representatives from West City Band will be in attendance to make a presentation requesting local board’s help in finding a permanent rehearsal venue for West City Band.

Executive Summary

2.       West City Band was formatted in 1977 and since then have operated mainly out of schools in West Auckland; Liston College, Henderson High School and currently Henderson Intermediate, paying nominal hireage fees. However due to increase of nearly 650% to the lease of current venue the organisation is looking for other options.

 

Recommendation

That the Henderson-Massey Local Board:

a)      Receives deputation from representatives of West City Band and thank them for presentation.

 

 

9          Public Forum

 

A period of time (approximately 30 minutes) is set aside for members of the public to address the meeting on matters within its delegated authority. A maximum of 3 minutes per item is allowed, following which there may be questions from www members.

10        Extraordinary Business

 

Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:

 

“An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at that meeting if-

 

(a)        The local authority by resolution so decides; and

 

(b)        The presiding member explains at the meeting, at a time when it is open to the public,-

 

(i)         The reason why the item is not on the agenda; and

 

(ii)        The reason why the discussion of the item cannot be delayed until a subsequent meeting.”

 

Section 46A(7A) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:

 

“Where an item is not on the agenda for a meeting,-

 

(a)        That item may be discussed at that meeting if-

 

(i)         That item is a minor matter relating to the general business of the local authority; and

 

(ii)        the presiding member explains at the beginning of the meeting, at a time when it is open to the public, that the item will be discussed at the meeting; but

 

(b)        no resolution, decision or recommendation may be made in respect of that item except to refer that item to a subsequent meeting of the local authority for further discussion.”
