The Chairperson acknowledges Afa’ese Manoa receiving the Queen Service Medal (QSM) and congratulated ‘Ofeina Langi on her wedding.

That the Pacific Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)         accept the apologies from Tunumafono Ava Fa'amoe for absence, and Cr Anae and Tevita Funaki for early departure and Apulu Reece for lateness.

2          Declaration of Interest

 

Members are reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.

 

Member Sefuiva declared an interest in Maori Trades Training initiatives.

Detection of Queensland Fruit fly in Grey Lynn

That the Pacific Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)      thank staff for their update on the Queensland fruit fly in Grey Lynn.

b)      acknowledge the information provided by Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and officers, and that the Panel suggest festival organisers to engage closely with the Village Trust.

The Southern Initiative Update report

Housing Project Update

 

Officers were in attendance and spoke in support of the item.

That the Pacific Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)      seek a further report on a clear action plan and timelines to meet and achieve significant improvement in most housing need and also include the resource budgetary allocation on the work.

b)      seek a clear commitment and resourcing to achieve priority no. 10 – Housing for Pacific peoples in the Housing Action Plan.

Long-term Plan - consultation update

 

Officers were in attendance and spoke in support of the item.

 

Resolution number PAC/2015/52

MOVED by Chairperson S Aiolupotea-Aiono, seconded by Member S Hao'uli:   

That the Pacific Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)      receive the Long-term Plan (LTP) consultation update and provide advice on strategies to achieve high levels of participation by Pacific people across all aspects of the consultation.

b)      note the audience-specific Have your say event on the evening of Thursday, 19 February 2015 and I can provide a verbal update about the event.

c)      express its strong disappointment as officers not heeding the panel’s feedback from the December meeting by not effectively engaging with the communities in the LTP process.
