Urgent Decision
of the Franklin Local Board : Clevedon Roundup

Purpose
1. Providing the
decision made under urgency for discounted venue hire rate for the group
producing the Clevedon Roundup newsletter.
Executive Summary
2. Local boards
have the decision-making allocation for setting hire fees for local facilities,
to support delivery of services, projects, events and activities for the wider
community’s benefit.
3. A dedicated
group of senior volunteers produce a local newsletter, the Clevedon Roundup,
using revenue earned from advertising to reproduce the newsletter. The group
has had free use of the Clevedon District Centre for a number of years by
agreement with Manukau City Council. The group was not considered for
inclusion in the list of nine nominated groups by the Franklin Local Board as
there was no knowledge of the agreement at that time.
4. To formalise
the informal arrangement, the board wishes to add the group producing the
Clevedon Roundup to the list of groups receiving a 100% discount for hire fees
for 2014/15. This will be reassessed each financial year to ensure they
continue to meet the relevant criteria, along with the other nominated groups.
5. The urgent
decision process was utilised as the group needed to utilise the centre prior
to the next business meeting (refer Attachment A).

Recommendation/s
That the Franklin
Local Board notes the following urgent decisions:
Clevedon
Roundup – Discount for Clevedon District Centre use
a) That the
Franklin Local Board approves the group producing the Clevedon Roundup
newsletter for 100% discount from hire charges for the Clevedon District
Centre for 2014/15.
