Auckland Transport’s proposed variation to Auckland’s Regional Public Transport Plan: local board view |
|
Resolution number HM/2015/79 MOVED by Member WI Flavell, seconded by Member WW Flaunty: That the Henderson-Massey Local Board: a) Provides the following feedback to Auckland Transport on the proposed variation to Auckland’s Regional Public Transport Plan: I. Henderson-Massey Local Board is aware that feedback has been requested only on the variations outlined in the statement of proposal but would like to note that it is pleased that budget has been found in the Long Term Plan for the north-western busway. Further to that the board once again advocates investigation of light rail transit along SH16 to Westgate. II. The board supports Waitakere Ranges and Rodney local boards request to extend passenger train services to Kumeu as a response to growth expected in the North-West area. III. Simplified zone fares · Support simplified zone fares, but need to ensure that those taking a short journey across zones are not financially penalised. Two possible options are: · introduce a short journey fare. · boundaries overlap by 1-1.5km on all boundary lines to help address the issue of short journeys across a boundary being penalised heavily. · Considers that tertiary fare rates should be lowered and discount rates for community services card holders should be implemented, to encourage beneficiaries and students onto public transport and contribute to changing driving culture. IV. Light Rail · Supports the implementation approach for light rail. · Advocates investigation of upgrading the north-western busway to light rail transit. V. Ferry Development Plan · Important to integrate ferry services with park and ride provision and bus services. VI. New Network service descriptions · Supports a congestion free network and acknowledges that an efficient and well patronised bus service contributes to that. |
