That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         accept the apologies from members Joan Lardner-Rivlin and Roger Fowler for absence.

2          Declaration of Interest

 

Members are reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.

3          Confirmation of Minutes

That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday 4 May 2015, as a true and correct record.

International Day of the Older Person

 

Resolution number SEN/2015/19

MOVED by Member J Clews, seconded by Member J Blakey:  

That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         provide the following advice to the council on ways to increase the visibility of International Day of the Older Persons in Auckland:

i)       that staff explore an International Day of the Older Persons (IDOP) theme around information networks

ii)      that the council use IDOP as a mechanism for prompting awareness of the diversity and richness of older people’s lives.

b)        note the potential of the Masters Games in 2017 to be a showcase event.

c)        form a working group consisting of members Russell Rigby, Richard Northey and Cr Casey to advance the idea of a Seniors Advisory Panel IDOP event.

Seniors Advisory Panel Work Programme Update

MOVED by Member R Rigby, seconded by Member J Blakey:  

That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)      note that the Lead Officer Support has requested staff to report back, where possible, on how the panel’s advice and input is used.

b)      provide further feedback on the plan for multi-sector action plan to prevent family, whanau and sexual violence in Auckland.
