Jean Harding, Manager, English Language Partners New Zealand introduced the organisation to the local board and spoke of the services they offer throughout West Auckland including demand of English language from refugees and other migrant communities. |

Resolution number WH/2015/77 MOVED by Chairperson CM Farmer, seconded by Member R Manukia-Schaumkel: That the Whau Local Board: a) Receives Whau Local Board Chairperson Catherine Farmer’s report. b) Rescinds resolution WH/2015/34 e). c) Confirms that Chairperson, Catherine Farmer replaces member Susan Zhu in attending the Local Government New Zealand 2015 annual general meeting and conference from Sunday 19 July 2015 to Tuesday 21 July 2015.

Resolution number WH/2015/79 MOVED by Member R Manukia-Schaumkel, seconded by Deputy Chairperson S Zhu: That the Whau Local Board: a) Approves the renewal of lease to Avondale Community Society Incorporated for St Ninian’s Hall, 17-19 St Georges Road, Avondale on the following terms and conditions: i) Term: 5 years commencing 1 November 2015; ii) Rent: $500.00 plus GST per annum b) Approves all other terms and conditions as contained in the existing lease commencing 1 November 2010 excluding this first right of renewal. c) Requests that staff work with the community development portfolio holders, led by member Ruby Manukia-Schaumkel to develop local lease renewal guide lines in line with Whau Local Board plan outcomes.

Resolution number WH/2015/80 MOVED by Member A Chand, seconded by Chairperson CM Farmer: That the Whau Local Board: a) Notes that subsequent to this report’s production there has been budget changes through the 2015/16 Local Board Agreement finalisation process, particularly around local board driven initiatives. b) Approves the community lease work plan for 2015/16 (Attachment B). c) Defers finalisation of the CDAC work programme (Attachment A) to enable further development through portfolio meetings and workshops. d) Requests the continuous opening of the New Lynn Nightmarket and does not support the advertised market closure June 25 to September 3.

Resolution number WH/2015/81 MOVED by Member R Manukia-Schaumkel, seconded by Member A Chand: That the Whau Local Board: a) Generally supports the Community Facilities Network Plan and the associated draft Action Plan to guide council’s investment in the provision of community facilities b) Notes the mis-coding on Page 89 of Avondale stadium as a pool/leisure facility and requests its correction to Leisure only c) Supports the recognition of Avondale Community Centre’s replacement and the planning for growth in Avondale and New Lynn’s libraries d) Notes that the current New Lynn Community Centre provides some leisure opportunities and should be included in the Facility Listing for leisure space in the Whau e) Notes the ongoing strong demand by the community to Council for aquatic facilities in the Whau f) Does not support the grouping of the “Western Corridor Mount Albert Aquatic Pools” into one project and requests that the future of Mount Albert Pool and the need for Aquatic facilities in the Whau / Glen Eden be listed as two separate priority projects g) Notes that local board views will be reported to the Regional Strategy and Policy Committee in August 2015.
