New Zealand's Disaster Communications Conference

Purpose
1. This report informs the local board about the New Zealand’s Disaster and Communications Conference run by Emergency Media and Public Affairs (EMPA) on Thursday 30th – Friday 31st July 2015, to be held at the Heritage Hotel, Auckland and invites the local board to nominate a representative/s to attend as relevant.
Executive Summary
2. The conference is a prime opportunity to learn from leading emergency communicators from around the world and across New Zealand, connect with your peers and be part of the conversations about best practice in the public and private sectors and across emergency services.
3. The cost of the conference is $880 per person.
That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board: a) nominates a representative/s to attend the New Zealand’s Disaster and Communications conference on Thursday 30th – Friday 31st July 2015 on the basis that the conference programme is relevant to the Local Board’s work programme. b) confirms that conference attendance will be paid for in accordance with the current Auckland Council Elected Member Expense Policy.
