Deliberation report for the Manurewa Local Board alcohol ban review 2015

Purpose
1. Seeking recommendations from the Manurewa Local Board Alcohol Ban Hearing Panel with regards to which alcohol ban areas are to be retained, amended or be allowed to lapse.
Executive Summary
2. The Manurewa Local Board at its business meeting on 28 May 2015 adopted for public engagement a proposal to retain 36 alcohol bans and allow 73 to lapse unless further evidence was supplied.
3. The public engagement period opened on 19 June and closed 17 July 2015. A total of 76 submitters gave evidence for 32 alcohol ban areas. Forty-six submitters gave general feedback not specific to a current alcohol ban area. A total of 36 submitters indicated they wish to be heard.
4. The Manurewa Local Board appointed a hearing panel of the whole board with local board chairperson Angela Dalton as chair. The board will adopt the recommended alcohol ban areas at either the 10 September or 8 October 2015 business meeting.
5. The board held a workshop on Thursday 20 August 2015 to ask questions and clarify any concerns they had with the process.
6. An updated summary of submissions will be tabled at the 27 August 2015 deliberations meeting.
