Extraordinary Business - Dog Attacks

 

 

 

Resolution number RBC/2015/29

MOVED by Cr GS Wood, seconded by Cr WB Cashmore:  

That the Regulatory and Bylaws Committee:

a)         consider an extraordinary item regarding dog attacks at Item 12.1 of this agenda:

i)          the reason the matter was not on the agenda is that the TVNZ Sunday programme that addressed dog attacks did not air until Sunday 2 August 2015;

ii)         the reason for urgency being the considerable public concern around the number of incidences of dog attacks.

Update on Animal Management Controls 2015

That the Regulatory and Bylaws Committee:

a)      amend the Keeping of Stock Control 2015 to make a seasonal licence exemption for children’s agricultural day events (as contained in Attachment A of the agenda report).

Integrated Bylaws Review and Implementation Programme update – August  2015

That the Regulatory and Bylaws Committee:

a)      note that a copy of this report will be circulated to all local boards and Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau Authority (Maunga Authority) via a memo to provide them with an update on progress on the bylaw review programme.

Alcohol ban signage

 

 

 

Secretarial note:          Changes to the original motion were incorporated by way of replacement to recommendation a), with the agreement of the meeting.

MOVED by Deputy Chairperson DA Krum, seconded by Member K Wilson:  

That the Regulatory and Bylaws Committee:

a)      request that the Chief Executive expedite the completion of the Auckland Council Te Reo Māori/ Māori Language Framework, to enable signage for alcohol ban guidelines to be updated with urgency.

12        Consideration of Extraordinary Items

Extraordinary Business - Dog Attacks

 

 

 

Two documents were provided in support of the item. Copies have been placed on the official minutes and are available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

Resolution number RBC/2015/33

MOVED by Cr GS Wood, seconded by Member K Wilson:  

That the Regulatory and Bylaws Committee:

a)         request that a report with recommendations be presented at the next meeting of the Regulatory and Bylaws Committee which assesses the extent of dog attacks in Auckland, and includes statistics on dangerous dogs and dog attack complaints as well as prosecutions, and the respective roles of Auckland Council and New Zealand Police when handling the issue.
