3          Confirmation of Minutes

MOVED by Member N Hashimoto, seconded by Member C Yao:  

That the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)         confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Wednesday, 16 December 2015, as a true and correct record.

Communications and Media Support

 

 

 

Mike George, Senior Communications Specialist was in attendance in support of this item and a PowerPoint presentation was given.

A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

 

 

 

Resolution number ETH/2016/3

MOVED by Member A Basnayake, seconded by Member Y Lee :  

That the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)         receive the introduction from Mike George, Auckland Council Communications Advisor and accept communications and media support for the Ethnic People’s Advisory Panel

b)        request Mike George to report back to the next Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel meeting with an outline approach to communications.

·         Draft agenda for the Ethnic Engagement Summit Work Programme.

·         Empowerment Communities Approach PowerPoint presentation.

Resolution number ETH/2016/4

MOVED by Member Y Lee , seconded by Member M Msopero:  

That the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)         receive the update on the partnership with Auckland Council, AUT University, the Federation of the Multicultural Council, Hui E and Migrant Action Trust, Ethnic Engagement Summit Work Programme from members’ Y Lee and M Msopero

b)        request an update from staff involved in the Diversity and Inclusion initiative regarding Auckland Council’s approach to work force and diverse communities.

c)         receive the presentation on the Empowerment Communities Unit update

d)        note the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi discussion has been deferred to the next meeting.

Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel: work programme update

MOVED by Member C Yao, seconded by Member N Hashimoto:  

That the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel:

a)      note the panel’s work programme updates.

b)      approve the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel collaborating with AUT University,   the Federation of the Multicultural Council, Hui E and Migrant Action Trust to organise an Ethnic Engagement Summit.

c)      approve the allocation of $5,000 from the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel’s community summit budget to the Ethnic Engagement Summit.
