The Chairperson opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present.

Seaweek 2017

 

Dr Mels Barton from New Zealand Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE) and Camden Howitt from Sustainable Coastlines made presentations and requested support from the forum for Seaweek 2017.

Copies of presentations have been placed on the file copy of minutes and can be viewed on Auckland Council website.

MOVED by Chairperson AJ Naysmith, seconded by Member BM Graham:  

That the Manukau Harbour Forum:

a)      Receives the presentation from Dr Mels Barton from New Zealand Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE) and Camden Howitt from Sustainable Coastlines and thanks them for the presentation.

b)      Requests that staff discuss Seaweek 2017 with member boards as part of the 2016/17 environmental work programme development.

Ryan Anderson

 

Ryan Anderson made a verbal presentation on his research project to understand the health and water quality of the Auckland Harbour at a depth of around 5m and the surface and to analyse if there is a difference in the water quality at a depth.

2016/2017 Manukau Harbour Forum Work Programme

 

Resolution number MHFJC/2016/5

MOVED by Member DG Purdy, seconded by Member CM Elliott:  

That the Manukau Harbour Forum:

a)      Notes that year three of the Manukau Harbour Forum work programme is focussed on continuing to increase engagement of businesses, industry, and residents with the Manukau Harbour.

b)      Requests that member boards endorse the work programme and consider this as the basis for 2016/17 locally driven initiatives budget discussions.

c)      Notes that no funding for the hydrodynamic modelling work beyond the completion of the scoping study has been identified, and recommends that member boards consider retaining hydrodynamic modelling study as an advocacy issue in their 2016/2017 Local Board Agreements.

Submission to the New Marine Protected Areas Act: Consultation Document

That the Manukau Harbour Forum:

a)         Supports the approach being taken by staff preparing Auckland Council draft submission to the New Marine Protected Areas Act: Consultation Document.

b)      Notes that individual local boards have also been invited to provide input into Auckland Council’s submission to the New Marine Protected Areas Act: Consultation Document.
