That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         accept the apology from Janet Clews for absence.

2          Declaration of Interest

 

Members were reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

 

3          Confirmation of Minutes

a)         confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday, 15 February 2016, as a true and correct record.

Panuku Development Auckland update on Housing for Older People project

 

Allan McGregor, Manager Strategic Planning, Panuku Development Auckland provided an update to the Seniors Advisory Panel regarding the Housing for Older People project.

 

Note:   Changes to the original motion were incorporated with the agreement of the meeting.

MOVED by Member R Rigby, seconded by Member J Blakey:  

That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)      receive the report

b)      indicates its preference for the provision of further advice to the Housing for Older People project

c)      nominate Dr Judy Blakey, Russell Rigby and Richard Northey to contribute to the project reference panel.

2016-2017 Annual Budget Input

 

The document: ‘Feedback on the Auckland Council Annual Budget 2016/2017 by the Auckland Council Seniors Advisory Panel’ was provided. A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

a)      agree its feedback on the Auckland Council Annual Budget 2016/2017 and request the Lead Officer Support submits this final document.

Affordable housing update

 

Rohan Bush, Manager and Kimberley Howell, Policy Analyst, Affordable Housing presented to the Seniors Advisory Panel regarding housing affordability.

Multi-sector Action Plan - Elder Abuse update

 

Manu Pihama, Practice Manager – Operations and Christine Olsen, Manager, of Community Empowerment provided a verbal update on the Multi-sector Action Plan, with particular regard to elder abuse. Manu Pihama advised that key stakeholders will be contacted during April.

a)         receive the information and thank Manu Pihama and Christine Olsen for their attendance

Seniors Advisory Panel Work Programme Update

That the Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         receive the Seniors Advisory Panel Work Programme Update for March 2016

b)        ask the Lead Officer Support to request formal input as an advisory panel on the age-friendly accreditation item at the Community Development and Safety and Regional Strategy and Policy Committee meetings on 30 March and 7 April 2016.

The Seniors Advisory Panel discussed the ADCOSS forum, Ministry of Health strategy consultation,  the Facilities Auckland event at the Zoo and inclusiveness.

Manurewa Local Board Chair Angela Dalton

 

Angela Dalton, Manurewa Local Board Chair spoke to the Seniors Advisory Panel regarding the Manurewa Local Board’s work streams, including potential seniors scholarships, WWI commemorations, an elder abuse day event, and regular liaison with organisations representing seniors.

Copies of the Manurewa Local Board Plan 2014 were available at the meeting. This public document is available on the Auckland Council website.

Age Concern presentation

 

Kevin Lamb, Chief Executive Officer and Sheena Revington, Fundraising and Communications Manager of Age Concern Auckland Incorporated presented to the Seniors Advisory Panel regarding its recent member survey.
