Aaron
McConchie, Chairperson of Save Te Arai and Christine Fernyhough, resident, addressed
the committee regarding the effects and impact on public access to the beach in
relation to the proposed relocation of the Pacific Road carpark, Te Arai. They
also stressed moving the public carpark will make access to the beach
difficult because of the distance in particular disadvantaging older people,
disability and those with young children. Aaron tabled a copy of documents in
support of his address. A copy of correspondence from Save Te Arai was
also tabled for the committee’s information.
