Deputy Chairperson Ann Hartley opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present.

Reverend Tevita Finau was awarded a Queen's Service Medal in the 2016 Queens Birthday Honours list for services to the Tongan community. Reverend Finau has served as a Minister for the Northcote Methodist Tongan congregation, and played leadership roles in Pan-Pacific organisations particularly in the areas of youth training and community health. He has represented the New Zealand Tongan community to Royal funerals in Tonga. He was a Tongan community key contact person for many Tongans who came to New Zealand from 1973 to 1979, and continued to be the key support for Tongan students studying in Wellington for more than thirty years. He has helped innumerable individuals and families find their feet in a new country, helping them with everything from finding accommodation to opening bank accounts. Reverend Finau has been a key part in many projects in his community, including setting up driving courses in Tongan with the help of the New Zealand Police, providing interpretation services in courts and for immigration services. |

Mrs Margaret Woolf was awarded a Queen's Service Medal in the 2016 Queens Birthday Honours list for services to gymnastics. Mrs Woolf has had a passion for rhythmic gymnastics for almost 60 years, and has expressed this, not only as a competitor, but also as a teacher, mentor, coach, judge, promoter and event organiser both in New Zealand and internationally. Mrs Woolf has served almost continuously on the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Sport Development Committee since 1985 and has held the position of an International Brevet Judge, the highest international judging qualification, for more than 12 years. As an International Brevet Judge, she has represented New Zealand at many international events, including Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, and world championships. Mrs Woolf was awarded a life membership by Gym Sports New Zealand in 2012. |

Lynette Brady and Oscar Paulich of the North Harbour Sports Council were in attendance to provide an update to the board on the history, achievements and purpose of the North Harbour Sports Council, and outline key issues facing sport in the North Harbour region. A powerpoint presentation was provided. A copy of the presentation has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

Janet Cole and Anna Halliwell of the Kaipatiki Project were in attendance to provide an update to the board on the activities and achievements of the Kaipatiki Project over the previous financial year, and on their plans for the coming year. A powerpoint presentation was provided. A copy of the presentation has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

Olga Tarasenko of the Russian Cultural and Educational Centre-school was in attendance to provide a report to the board on the activities, achievements and growth of the Russian Cultural and Educational Centre-school, and to update the board on their plans for the future.
