a)      thank Lexie Matheson for her attendance and presentation regarding the Human Rights (Gender Identity) Amendment Bill

b)      request the Chairperson of the Community Development and Safety Committee write to the government supporting a change to the Human Rights (Gender Identity) Amendment Bill to add “gender identity” to the protections offered by the Human Rights Act 1993.

Findings from the review of the Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy 2012

MOVED by Chairperson C Casey, seconded by Cr AJ Anae:  

That the Community Development and Safety Committee:

a)   recommend that the Regional Strategy and Policy Committee adopt the Auckland Council Whānau Internal Strategy to Minimise Alcohol-Related Harm 2016 as contained in Attachment A subject to the inclusion of the following in section 6.0 of the strategy:

i)    reference to Auckland Council’s commitment to the Auckland’s Action on Alcohol Plan 2013-2018

ii)      reference to the Auckland Council’s participation in the Auckland Alcohol Executive Planning Group

iii   reference to Auckland Council’s collaboration with non-government organisations and community networks.

a)      receive the update on 2015/2016 Arts, Community and Events activity.

b)        recommend that the Regional Strategy and Policy Committee request staff undertake further work to determine Auckland Council’s role and position in addressing the issue of homelessness, including the provision of emergency housing.
