1 Welcome
Chairperson SP Daly opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present. Member J Cleave led the meeting in a karakia.

Member JJ Gilbert declared an interest in respect of the AoteaOra Community Trust at item 17 – AoteaOra Community Trust proposal for Off the Grid 2017 event.
4 Confirmation of Minutes
Resolution number GBESP/2016/32 MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member J Cleave: That the Great Barrier Environment Committee: a) confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Wednesday, 22 June 2016, as a true and correct record.

Aotea Great Barrier Ecology Conversation Update and Next Steps |

Resolution number GBESP/2016/42 MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member J Cleave: That the Great Barrier Environment Committee: a) note that it will be receiving a report on Phase 2 of the Aotea Great Barrier Ecology Conversation project at its 27 September workshop and will formally consider this at its 28 September meeting. b) agree to make the contractors report public following the final community meeting which is scheduled for mid-October 2016. c) commend the final report to the incoming Great Barrier Local Board for consideration. d) recommend that the incoming board act as interim kaitiaki for the report and project and consider next steps, funding support and ownership of the project in discussion with the island community. e) thank Shirley Johnson and Marie McEntee for their excellent work on the Aotea Great Barrier Ecology Conversation project.

Resolution number GBESP/2016/43 MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member J Cleave: That the Great Barrier Environment Committee: a) endorse the Aotea Great Barrier subsection of the Hauraki Gulf Islands Waste Plan. b) thank Jenny Chilcott, senior waste planning advisor from Infrastructure and Environmental Services for her presentation on the Endorsement of Aotea Great Barrier subsection of the Hauraki Gulf Islands Waste Plan.

Resolution number GBESP/2016/44 MOVED by Member SP Daly, seconded by Member IM Fordham: That the Great Barrier Environment Committee: a) note the AoteaOra Community Trust proposal on the Off the Grid event 2017. b) allocate $18,150 to contract AoteaOra Community Trust to run the third Local Board Off the Grid alternative energy event from 21 April to 6 May 2017 from the Great Barrier Local Board Local Grants budget.
