Chairperson Mulholland opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present.

            Councillor Clow updated the board on matters being addressed by the Governing Body including Mayoral proposal – Annual Budget 2017/2018, housing issues around Auckland and Avondale Community and Recreation centre.

Healthy Families Waitakere - Creating healthier environments programme

 

Kerry Allan, Jewelz Petley and Cailtin MacColl from Healthy Families Waitakere made a presentation to the board on the influence the board can have on the food and drink environments particularly at community and Council events.

Living Wage Auckland

 

Yvette Taylor from the Living Wage Auckland made a presentation seeking a commitment from the board to support a Living Wage for both directly employed and those employed by contractors in the Board's submission to the Annual Plan.

War-Free Zone Peace City - Laurie Ross

 

Laurie Ross made a presentation on her proposal on war-free zone and peace city. Her proposal is:

That the Whau Local Board declares the Waitemata Harbour, Hauraki Gulf Islands and surrounding waters to be a War-Free Zone reinforcing the Auckland Peace City policy mandate.

This means that:

a)         Wargames are not acceptable and mass warship visits are discouraged.

b)         Auckland Peace City will refuse to host events or provide support for the production, promotion or sale of weapons for warfare.

c)         Auckland Peace City will not do business with companies who produce nuclear weapons.

a)      agree indicative locally driven initiative allocations for 2017/2018 (Attachment A).

b)      adopt local content for consultation (Attachment B).

c)      agree key advocacy issues.

d)      agree that the chairperson be delegated the authority to make any final minor changes to local consultation content for the Annual Budget 2017/2018 prior to publication, including online consultation content.
