Resolution number MR/2017/204 MOVED by Chairperson A Dalton, seconded by Member A Cunningham-Marino: That the Manurewa Local Board a) receive the member update from: i) Stella Cattle · attended meeting with the Citizens Advice Bureau · advised AGM for Friends of Botanic Gardens is on 24 September 2017 · advised AGM for Age Concern Counties Manukau is on 19 October 2017.
ii) Joseph Allan · representing the Chair at the Chairs Forum on 9 October to lead the discussion on departments: - level of consultation with the local boards on renewals and work programmes - delivery of agreed work programmes · attended the Totara Park walk-a-round with the Friends of Totara Park and identified that the group of 100 steps are a safety issue and are still in need of repair · vehicle reported in July in harbour at end of Pitt Avenue has not yet been removed and oily substance on footpath is still there · a pile of rubbish bags with stickers outside Waimahia Intermediate school has been sitting there for a couple of months and needs to be removed.
iii) Rangi McLean · acknowledged the leadership the Chair has taken on rough sleepers initiative · attended the regional Auckland Kohanga Reo event at the Manurewa Leisure Centre which was well presented with over 700 attendees. CARRIED |

Resolution number MR/2017/207 MOVED by Chairperson A Dalton, seconded by Member S Cattle: That the Manurewa Local Board: a) provides feedback, including any specific feedback on the package of materials across the six outcome areas and the Development Strategy (attachment A). b) notes that the resolutions of this meeting will be reported back to the Planning Committee for consideration in the drafting of the refreshed Auckland Plan. c) thanks the Auckland Plan refresh team for the work undertaken to date. d) requests further consideration to be given under the following Auckland Plan refresh headings: i. Opportunity and Prosperity - that priority be given not only to future proofing youth education and training to align with a digital future but also that recognition be given to the need for youth training that addresses current housing development needs and future proofing our workforce for further housing development demands over the next 30 years
ii. Homes and Places - consider the feasibility of building more homes whereby the sole purpose is to provide long term rental options wherein the same home may be rented over the entirety of a person’s lifetime
iii. Environment and Cultural Heritage - as there does not appear to be a direct mention of recycling, resource recovery or waste management; to include a statement regarding Auckland Council’s aspirational goal towards ‘zero waste’. CARRIED |
