Purpose
1. To share the early engagement summary report and present the strategic framework and development strategy.
Executive summary
2. On 1 August 2017 the Planning Committee approved in principle a draft strategic framework for the refreshed Auckland Plan.
3. Alec Tang, Principal Specialist Corp Sustainability, will provide a high level overview of the draft strategic framework and discuss how previous feedback from the Rural Advisory Panel is being integrated into the refresh.

National Environmental Standard for Plantation Forestry

Purpose
1. Marilyn Ford, Auckland Council Planner, will be present to provide a presentation on the National Environmental Standard for Plantation Forestry.
Executive summary
2. A short presentation introducing the National Environmental Standard for Plantation Forestry will be provided. The presentation will include when the NES comes into force, what it covers, and key differences between the NES and Unitary Plan provisions, and possible approaches for integration/removal of conflict between the Unitary Plan and NES regulations.
3. Rural Advisory Panel forestry representative Trish Fordyce will provide comments after the presentation.

1. Healthy Waters Operations South Team Manager Andrew Skelton will be present to address the panel regarding the Ness Valley floods.
Executive summary
2. On the 7th and 8th of March, Ness Valley residents suffered severe flooding resulting in hundreds of forestry logs, silt and debris scattered over 3km of lifestyle properties.
3. The presentation will cover the effects, response clean up and learnings from the incident.

Structure Planning Programme for 2017-2018

1. To provide the Panel with an overview of the Structure Planning Programme for 2017-2018.
Executive summary
2. Lead Planner Craig Cairncross will give a short presentation on the Structure Planning Programme for 2017-2018.
3. The presentation will cover the four structure plan areas which have been approved to proceed, key issues affecting areas in the Southern Structure Plan, an overview of the structure planning programme, and next steps in this process.
