1 Welcome
Chairperson IM Fordham opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present. Member J Cleave led the meeting in a karakia.

Resolution number GBI/2017/103 MOVED by Chairperson I Fordham, seconded by Member S Daly: That the Great Barrier Local Board: a) accept the apology from Member S Johnson for absence.

3 Declaration of Interest
Chairperson IM Fordham declared an interest in respect of the Great Barrier Island Sports & Social Club Inc.’s capital grant funding application at item 13 – Great Barrier Local Grants Round One 2017-18 grant applications.
Deputy Chairperson L Coles declared an interest in respect of the Orama Christian Fellowship Trust and The Marion Barleyman Memorial Cottage Rural Women NZ Awana Branch Inc’s capital grant and local grant funding applications at item 13 – Great Barrier Local Grants Round One 2017-18 grant applications.

Resolution number GBI/2017/107 MOVED by Chairperson I Fordham, seconded by Member S Daly: That the Great Barrier Local Board: a. acknowledge John Nash for his outstanding contribution to the local board and community. John has managed the board since 2010 through three elections, three local board plans, and ten local board members. His incredible perseverance and tireless patience has helped to achieve projects such as the purchase of Glenfern Sanctuary, Okiwi airport seal, and Dark Sky Sanctuary. Most importantly John has been a steadying hand that has supported and guided the board and championed the uniqueness of Aotea throughout council for the benefit of us all. We wish him well in his new role and an open invitation to return. |
