Chairperson IM Fordham opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present. Member J Cleave led the meeting in a karakia.

The Great Barrier Local Board acknowledged the passing of William Sanderson (4 October 1917), Herbert Paddison (8 October 1917), Cecil Osborne (12 October 1917) and Benjamin Sanderson (23 October 1917) with a minute’s silence.

The Great Barrier Local Board acknowledged John Nash – Relationship Manager Great Barrier and Waiheke for his service to the local board and the Great Barrier Island community.

That the Great Barrier Local Board:

a.        acknowledge John Nash for his outstanding contribution to the local board and community. John has managed the board since 2010 through three elections, three local board plans, and ten local board members. His incredible perseverance and tireless patience has helped to achieve projects such as the purchase of Glenfern Sanctuary, Okiwi airport seal, and Dark Sky Sanctuary. Most importantly John has been a steadying hand that has supported and guided the board and championed the uniqueness of Aotea throughout council for the benefit of us all. We wish him well in his new role and an open invitation to return.
