Mere Tunks opened the meeting with a karakia.

 

 

1          Apologies

  

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         noted the apologies from Cr Daniel Newman and Roger Fowler for lateness and Sonny Niha for absence.

 

 

 

2          Declaration of Interest

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

 

Councillor D Newman entered the meeting at 10.37 am.

 

 

3          Confirmation of Minutes

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         confirmed the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday, 16 October 2017, as a true and correct record.

Cr Daniel Newman's Update

 

Member R Fowler entered the meeting at 10.39 am.

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         noted the verbal update from Cr Daniel Newman regarding the following:

·         Rate increases

·         Regional Fuel Tax

·         Accessible transport

·         Citizens Advice Bureau.

Orquidea Mortera – Dementia Friendly Communities

 

Orquidea Mortera, Group Diversional Therapist for the Selwyn Foundation presented a powerpoint presentation outlining its health care practice and services they provide. A copy of the presentation has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)      received Orquidea Mortera, Group Diversional Therapist, Selwyn Foundation’s presentation and thanked Orquidea for her attendance.

Note:   At this point of the meeting, the Chair spoke in regards to the Community Forum held on Friday, 16 March 2018 and thanked staff involved with the preparation of the successful Community Forum.

Seniors Advisory Panel Work Programme Update

 

An update on the first phase of the Investing In Aucklanders project was tabled. A copy has been placed on the official minutes are is available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)      received the update on the work programme from Cecily Dower, Deputy Lead Officer.

Public consultation process for the council's 10-year budget and Auckland Plan 2050

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)        noted the consultation process for the council’s 10-year budget and Auckland Plan 2050.

Age Friendly Cities - Governing Body

 

 

 

The Seniors Advisory Panel:

a)         recommended to the Governing Body that Auckland becomes an Age Friendly City as soon as possible.

b)         recommended to Auckland Council that it explores the opportunity to apply for Community Connects grants funding towards Age Friendly Cities offered by Ministry of Social Development.

 

 

Note:   Cr Cathy Casey, Chief Liaison Councillor commended and thanked all staff for the success of the Community Forum held on Friday, 16 March 2018.

 

 

Member Mere Tunks closed the meeting with a karakia.
