Resolution number YOU/2018/1 MOVED by Chairperson V Maka, seconded by Member Chu Shing: That the Youth Advisory Panel: a) accept the apology from Star Rawiri and Tremayne Reid, and Cr Fa’anana Efeso Collins for absence, and Kramer Hoeflich for lateness. |
Members are reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.
There were no declarations of interest.

a) received the introductions from the three new Youth Advisory Panel members Archer Buissink – Ōrākei local board area, Bryce Collin – Franklin local board area, and Ogonna Nweke – Whau local board area.

Panel members provided updates on their work and activities since the last meeting. |

a) received the Youth Advisory Panel members’ updates.
|

|
· Sally Angelson, Youth Empowerment team manager, updated the panel on the work of the Youth Empowerment team, including Youth Connections and Community Action on Youth and Drugs (CAYAD). |
|
· The Community Empowerment Unit are currently exploring the feasibility of a youth empowerment plan or approach. · The panel invited Sally back later in the year to provide input on the approach. · Sally extended an invite to members of the panel to attend JobFest 2018 on 24 May 2018 at the ASB showgrounds. |

|
· Panel will be divided into two groups focusing on different areas of engagement |
|
· Multiple events in multiple spaces could reach wider sections of the youth population. |
|
· The panel will aim to discuss and feedback on their individual and collective work throughout the year in their respective local board areas at their AGM at the end of 2018. |
|
· Deputy Chair will present a plan at the panel’s next workshop on the 14 May 2018. Ideas will be initially circulated via the panel’s Facebook page.
