That the Ōtara -Papatoetoe Local Board recognize the significant contribution to rugby by Geoff Moon who has coached successfully junior representative teams, top senior clubs Otahuhu (Gallagher Shield) and Papatoetoe as well as the Blues Development side. Geoff also coached in England, Argentina, Italy and passed away suddenly aged 52. He is survived by his wife Angela and children Jessica, Sean and Dylan.

That the Ōtara -Papatoetoe Local Board recognize the significant contribution made to education over 47 years by Dr Peter Uys who retired on 15 March 2019 having been Principal of Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate from 2010 after joining the collegiate in 2003.

Ian Herbert (Herbie) Plummer |
|
That the Ōtara -Papatoetoe Local Board recognize Ian Herbert Plummer for his contribution to cricket and rugby. Ian taught at south Auckland schools wanting to make an impact on young people’s lives and was a volunteer at Kidz First Hospital. Ian passed away in January 2019 aged 81.

In memory of our fallen Muslim brothers and sisters in Christchurch. |

Our Ōtara -Papatoetoe Local Board wishes to pay tribute to all those who tragically lost their lives on Friday 15 March 2019. The massacre at the two mosques was a despicable act of terrorism. We are outraged by it. We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of so many innocent lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. We stand in solidarity with our Muslim and Christchurch community. This hate will not defeat us! Kia Kaha NZ. The meeting observed a minute of silence to reflect.

2019 Local Government New Zealand Conference and Annual General Meeting |

Resolution number OP/2019/30 MOVED by Chairperson L Fuli, seconded by Deputy Chairperson R Robertson: That the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board: a) nominate Member Apulu Reece Autagavaia and Member Dawn Trenberth to attend the Local Government New Zealand 2019 Conference and Annual General Meeting in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington from Sunday 7 July to Tuesday 9 July 2019. b) confirm that conference attendance, including travel and accommodation, will be paid for in accordance with the current Auckland Council Elected Member Expense Policy. c) note that any members who wish to attend the AGM must provide their names to the Kura Kāwana programme team by Friday 12 April 2019 to ensure that they are registered with Local Government New Zealand. d) note that the attendance of one board member is centrally budgeted and agree to fund the costs of additional attendees out of their individual professional development budget. |
