That the Waiheke Local Board:

a)      receive the Auckland Transport Waiheke Local Board update May 2019.

b)      note that in paragraph 8 of the agenda report regarding the Te Werowero sculpture that the Waiheke community is contributing to the purchase of the sculpture rather than the local board.

c)      agree on siting the Te Werowero sculpture in the location marked on the tabled document ‘Location for Te Werowero sculpture’.

d)      note that the Downtown Ferry Terminal resource consent is granted without addressing the issues raised by the Waiheke Local Board.

e)      seek an urgent response from the Auckland Transport Group Manager Metro Service Delivery, Stacey Van Der Putten, with respect to relocating the hospital bus service to the ferry terminal.

Onetangi Beach structure replacement options report

That the Waiheke Local Board:

a)      approve the replacement of the Onetangi Beach dinghy ramp with the preferred option of a set of wooden access stairs, subject to the Environment and Community Services Committee approving up to $93,000 of the Onetangi budget allocation of $230,000 from the regional coastal renewals budget.

b)      request that officers report back to the local board confirming the delivery timeframe for obtaining the required consents, and an expected completion date for the physical works.

c)      investigate and report on stairs or alternate access to Onetangi Beach between the Pohutukawa trees opposite 55 The Strand.

d)      investigate and report on a simple mechanism for kayak access to Onetangi Beach.

a)      approve a grant of $2,500 to Community Networks Waiheke from the 2018/2019 Locally Driven Initiatives (LDI) ‘walking and cycling promotion’ opex budget for an open day and skate competition at Tāwaipareira Reserve to support placemaking and community engagement.

Approval of Wharetana Bay Planting Plan

 

Resolution number WHK/2019/106

MOVED by Member S Brown, seconded by Member B Upchurch:  

That the Waiheke Local Board:

a)      approve the raised earth bund planting plan for Wharetana Bay and allocate up to $20,000 from its 2018/19-2020/21 LDI capex budget for resource consent and implementation.

b)      request that further work be undertaken on the suitability of cabbage trees planted in Wharetana Bay Reserve as part of the proposed planting plan and support alternative species being planted if appropriate.

c)      fund reserve signage located at the northern and southern ends of the reserve on the foreshore from this budget to confirm the reserve is public land and public use is welcome.

d)      reconsider funding all or parts of the adopted Wharetana Bay Concept Plan 2017 in its next term depending on the outcomes of the decisions from the agenda report.
