·         Congratulations - Onjeurlina Leiataua (Counties Manukau, Ōtāhuhu Leopards)  and Aieshaleigh Smalley (Counties Manukau, Ōtāhuhu Leopards)  for being selected for the Warriors 2019 NRLW squad.

·         Congratulations - Madhi Hussaini, Ōtāhuhu College, whose artwork, ‘Organic Symmetry’, has been selected for the Midland MRI national Youth Art Award 2019 Exhibition in Hamilton.

·         Congratulations – Jordan King – Māngere Bowling Club – 2019 Auckland Bowler of the Year (Winner – Auckland Centre Pairs; Winner – Auckland Championship Pairs; Runner-up – Auckland Championship Triples; Winner – NZ National Pairs; Auckland Open Men’s Representative Squad; NZ High Performance Squad).

·         Congratulations ­– Iosefa Enari and team for a successful 2019 Pacific Dance Festival.

·         Congratulations – Tania Thomas, selected as the 2019 President of Ōtāhuhu Rotary.

·         Congratulations – Māngere school-aged rugby team winning the recent Walter Dixon Shield Tournament, beating the Otara WD Team 30-5.

·         Congratulations – Auckland South school-aged rugby team winning the recent Bill McLaren Cup Tournament.

·         Congratulations – South Storm Girls rugby team winning the recent Junior Storm Series Tournament.

·         Manukau Magpies Women’s team beaten finalist in the ARL Championship Grand final.

·         Community Action Against Alcohol Harm for their outstanding work.

·         Thank you to Local Board Services staff Riya Seth, Daniel Poe and Rina Tagore for their outstanding acting roles in the last 5 months.

Auckland Transport July 2019 update report

 

Note: a correction in the report page 16 and table no. 2, “bus shelter improvement project” is now “green” as AT has received the list from Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local board MO/2019/59.

That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board:

a)      receive the Auckland Transport July 2019 update report.

b)       request Auckland Transport officers to follow-up urgently the maintenance of the road surface on Bader Drive – specifically the stretch between the Māngere Town Centre and the BP petrol station, that is, between the two round-abouts.

Approval for the extension of an existing name for a new road at 34 Hall Avenue, Mangere

That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board:

a)        approve the name ‘Umu Place’ for the new public road to be extended at 34 Hall Avenue, Mangere in accordance with section 319(1)(j) of the Local Government Act 1974 (resource consent reference BUN60082252 (MC_49119) & SUB60336472).

Approval for a new road name at 16-18 Bader Drive and 3-11 Ventura street, Mangere 

 

Member Lauese voted against the name Patete Lane.

That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board:

a)         approve the name Patete Lane for the new private road created by way of subdivision at 16-18 Bader Drive and 3-11 Ventura Street, Mangere (Stage 1), in accordance with section 319(1)(j) of the Local Government Act 1974 (resource consent references BUN60322099 & SUB60322131).

Reviewing the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Area Plan for a part of the Māngere area

 

 

Resolution number MO/2019/115

MOVED by Chairperson L Sosene, seconded by Member T Lauese:  

That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board:

a)         supports the process for reviewing, and if needed updating the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Area Plan for part of Māngere as set out in the report.

 

b)         nominates the Chair Lemauga Lydia Sosene and Deputy Chair Togiatolu Walter Togiamua (Member Bakulich and Member O’Brien as alternates) to the Area Plan Working Party to support the review of the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Area Plan for part of Māngere.

 

c)         requests officers to include the review of the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Area Plan work as part of the local board work programme for 2019/2020 and update through quarterly reporting process.

New community lease to Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust at Māngere Domain, 11R Taylor Road, Māngere Bridge

 

Resolution number MO/2019/117

MOVED by Chairperson L Sosene, seconded by Member T Lauese:  

That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board:

a)      grant a new community lease to Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust for the group-owned building comprising 521 square meters (more or less) located at Māngere Domain, 11R Taylor Road, Māngere Bridge (outlined in red on Attachment A) on the land described as Part Allotment 206 Parish of Manurewa subject to the following terms:

i)       term - 10 years commencing 1 April 2019, with one 10 year right of renewal

ii)      final expiry - 31 March 2039

iii)     rent - $1.00 plus GST per annum if demanded

iv)     all other terms and conditions to be in accordance with Auckland Council’s Community Occupancy Guidelines 2012 and the Reserves Act 1977.

b)      approve the Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust Community Outcomes Plan for inclusion as the Third Schedule of the lease (attached to this report as Attachment B).
