Minutes of an extraordinary meeting of the Waiheke Local Board held in the Local Board Office, 10 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke on Thursday, 10 October 2019 at 5:17pm.

Member Brown led the meeting with a karakia.
There were no apologies.
There were no declarations of interest.
There were no leaves of absence.
Acknowledgement of Holly Mckenzie’s last local board meeting, having attended many as Don McKenzie’s companion. We wish her well in her retirement in Wellington.
Note: The Chair accorded precedence to the presentation by Jonathan Anyon and Melanie Alexander (Auckland Transport) on item 12 on Proposed Changes to Matiatia Summer Trial.

Petition – Merran Lawler – Petition to overturn the Mātiatia Trial |

Merran Lawler on behalf of Meredith Bean and petition signatories was present to address the meeting and to present a petition regarding the over turning of the Mātiatia Trial. Petition Prayer: “WITF, the Waiheke Local Board and Auckland Transport to over turn the “Mātiatia Trial”. The “Mātiatia Trial” (to run over summer to April 2010) was signed off by Waiheke Local Board last week. Waiheke residents call for all cited in this petition to OVERTURN this incredibly unfair and unpopular decision, in which the local residents of Waiheke Island were not consulted. A copy of the petition was provided. A copy has been placed on the official minutes. |

Resolution number WHK/2019/201 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson P Walden, seconded by Member B Upchurch: That the Waiheke Local Board: a) approves the following changes to the Mātiatia summer trial approved at its 26 September 2019 meeting: i. change the proposed pick-up and drop-off area on the landward side of the proposed new footpath in the front carpark to taxi and shuttle parking only. ii. add additional mobility and freight vehicle parking at the far end of the keyhole. iii. consequential changes in the front carpark to ensure no loss of mobility and P30 parking spaces. b) leaves all other components of the Mātiatia summer trial unchanged and in particular retains the following elements: i. the existing P2 pick-up and drop-off area in the outer keyhole. ii. the proposed pick-up and drop-off area on the seaward side of the proposed footpath in the front carpark. c) notes that the summer trial will be monitored and measured to help inform its effectiveness and to provide data for wider proposed changes under the proposed Mātiatia Plan, requesting that baseline monitoring commence during Labour Day weekend. d) reaffirms that there will be no net reduction in public parking by the establishment of additional carparks at the rear of the Harbourmaster’s building concurrent with the establishment of the bus layover areas in front of the Harbourmaster’s building. e) request confirmation that the Auckland Transport have consulted the Mātiatia trial with mana whenua. f) confirm that a contiguous surface will be put in place from the terminal to the taxi rank. |
