That the Rural Advisory Panel:

a)         accept the apology from Fiona Gower, Greg McCracken and Peter Spencer for absence and Lucy Deverall for early departure.

Members are reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.

Auckland Ballance Farm Environment Awards 2020

 

Matt and Sarah Bolton from Oete Goat Farm were in attendance.

Outdoor Fire Safety Bylaw Review

a)       provided feedback on the use and management of outdoor fires, from a safety, nuisance or air quality perspective, to support the Outdoor Fire Safety Bylaw 2014 review.

Central government decisions on Action for Healthy Waterways

That the Rural Advisory Panel:

a)      receive the information memo dated 9 July 2020 and thank Dave Allen, Manager Natural Environment Strategy, Auckland Plan Strategy and Research department and his colleagues for an overview of the central government decisions on the Action for Healthy Waterways package.

Operational response to drought

That the Rural Advisory Panel:

a)      endorse the ongoing operational drought response actions

b)      advise staff on the possible demand from rural communities including non-residential consumers.

MOVED by Member G Smith, seconded by Member T Fordyce:  

That the Rural Advisory Panel:

a)         prioritise the following topics for the November 2020 meeting:

i)          Central government decisions on Action for Healthy Waterways -update

ii)         Operational response to drought update

iii)       Long Term Plan

iv)       Reform of the Resource Management Act

v)         Discussions with Environmental Groups about the Resource Management Act changes.
