Minutes of a meeting of the Manukau Harbour Forum held in the Woodside Room, Civic Centre, L1, 31 - 33 Manukau Station Road, Manukau on Friday, 16 October 2020 at 12:23 PM.

Note: Glenn Boyd, Local Area Manager, Great Barrier Island & Waiheke Island, chaired the meeting pending the appointment of a Chair and Deputy Chair at a meeting to be held on 6 November 2020.
Member Chris Makaore opened the meeting with a Karakia.

There were no leaves of absence.
Member Chris Makaore acknowledged the work, commitment and dedication of Richelle Kahu-McConnell who passed away on 13 October 2020. Richelle was active in her community and brought her specialist skills to Auckland Council on a number of occasions. Richelle was a person that was passionate about the environment around her, a staunch practitioner for Para Kore and a person who wanted to make a difference in this world.
There were no petitions.

Jim Jackson, on behalf of the Manukau Habour Restoration Society, attended to address the meeting regarding various Manukau Harbour issues. |

|
· Chris Makaore had recently attended an update from Panuku regarding the Onehunga wharf development proposal and request staff follow up to get a presentation to the MHF. |
|
· Melissa Atama advised on recreational use of harbour that her local board is supporting, a memorial waka ama regatta is scheduled on Sunday 18 October, other regular waka ama activations do occur and there is progress on a new Puhinui jetty my marae |
|
· Saffron Thoms advised that inanga had been found at various harbour sites in Waitakere Ranges local board area. The local board has been working with regards to retaining a Council site that had been identified for disposal and are hopeful that Council will retain the property for a proposed wet area. Funding has been made available for various groups managing activity in the coastal edge of upper Manukau including sea bird monitoring. |

Resolution number MHFJC/2020/6 MOVED by Member L Sosene, seconded by Member M Atama: That the Manukau Harbour Forum: a) endorse the tabled feedback as its contribution into Auckland Council’s submission on the Ministry for the Environment’s consultation document: ‘Reducing the impact of plastic on our environment: Moving away from hard-to-recycle and single-use items’. b) note its thanks to Tasman Gillies, Manukau Harbour Forum co-ordinator, for his support. |
