Hauraki Gulf Forum

Co-Chairperson Tangata Whenua Ms Nicola MacDonald welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced Ms Charmaine Bailie, Tangata Whenua who was attending her first meeting. She also welcomed Cr Caitlin Casey, alternate member for Matamata-Piako District Council and Mr Luke Coles, alternate member for Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board (Auckland Council).

The co-chairpersons took turns to chair agenda items. Ms N MacDonald chaired items 1 to 5, 7, 9, and 11 and Cr P Coom chaired items 6, 8 and 10.

 

1          Apologies

That the Hauraki Gulf Forum:

a)         accept the apologies from Cr DA Arnold, Cr PB Buckthought, Mr J Davis, Mayor S Goudie, Mr T Hohneck, Mr P Majurey, Cr DT Tegg, Ms V Toki and Cr J Watson for absence.

Sea Change Tai Timu Tai Pari - Update on Government's Response Strategy

MOVED by Cr C Fletcher, seconded by Cr R McGuire:  

That the Hauraki Gulf Forum:

a)      note the verbal update and thank the representatives of the Ministers of Conservation, and Oceans and Fisheries

b)      note the sense of urgency expressed by members for the release of the Government’s response strategy to Sea Change Tai Timu Tai Pari.

Executive Officer's Report

MOVED by Co-Chairperson Tangata Whenua Ms N MacDonald, seconded by Member S Milne:  

That the Hauraki Gulf Forum:

a)      note the report.

b)      agree to amend the review cycle for the Governance Statement to every 3 years

c)      agree to continue an annual review of the Work Plan (2020-2022)

d)      agree to include in the Work Plan, advocacy for updating and strengthening the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Act 2000 as part of the Resource Management Act and other legislative reforms.

Hauraki Gulf Forum Budget for 2021-2022 Financial Year

 

 

 

Resolution number HGF/2021/18

MOVED by Cr R McGuire, seconded by Cr W Walker:  

That the Hauraki Gulf Forum:

a)      approve a budget of $315,000 for the 2021-2022 financial year

b)      note with appreciation the efficient use of the budget for the current financial year.
