Disability Advisory Panel

28 June 2021

 

 

 

1          Apologies

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)           noted the apologies from Co-Chairperson Martine Abel-Williamson and Member Rachel Peterson for absence.

b)           noted the resignation of Member Renata Kotua from the panel and thank her for her contribution.

c)           congratulated Martine Abel-Williamson on her election to the role of president of the World Bind Union.

 

 

 

 

2          Declaration of Interest

 

Members are reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.

 

Co-chair Jason Boberg declared potential conflict of interest, in relation to his involvement in the Auckland Council's climate team, in a disability and climate program/ work stream.

 

 

 

3          Confirmation of Minutes

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

d)           noted the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday, 22 February 2021, as a true and correct record.

 

 

 

 

4          Extraordinary Business

 

            There was no extraordinary business.

Disability Advisory Panel Strategic Work Programme 2019-2022

Recommendation/s

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)         noted the steps taken to develop the high level work programme and actions presented to the PACE Committee on 11 May 2021

b)         noted progress on areas in the work programme

c)         agreed not to add any specific actions to incorporate in the work programme at this time.

Future meeting dates for the Disability Advisory Panel

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)         agreed to confirm the proposed meeting dates for the remainder of 2021 via email:

i)             9 August 2021, from 1 – 4pm, in person

ii)            11 October 2021, from 1 – 4pm, in person

iii)          1 November 2021, from 1 – 4pm, in person

iv)          29 November 2021, from 5 – 8pm, via Zoom

b)         agreed the 11 October 2021 meeting, to be an open meeting

c)         agreed that Ursula Thynne and Gerard Martin set up a working group which will consider opportunities for community engagement over the remainder of their term.

Approving the Disability Advisory Panel's feedback on recent council plans

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)      approved the Disability Advisory Panel’s recent feedback on the draft:

·        Long term Plan

·        Economic Development Action Plan

·        Regional Land Transport Plan

·        Affordable Housing Advocacy Plan

b)      noted that an informal feedback was provided on the consultation process for the Trading and Events in Public Places bylaw.

Proposal to make Public Trading, Events and Filming Bylaw

 

A PowerPoint presentation was provided. A copy has been attached to the official minutes

and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)      agreed to inform its community of the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed new trading, events and filming bylaw in Attachment A of this agenda report

b)      noted public and panel feedback for consideration by the Bylaw panel.

Disability Operational Action Plan Update

 

A PowerPoint presentation was provided. A copy has been attached to the official minutes

and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)      received the update on the Disability Operational Action Plan (DOAP)

b)      agreed to provide feedback on what priorities contributors to the Disability Operational Action Plan (DOAP) in 2021 and 2022 should be considering, at the 9 August 2021 panel meeting.
