1          Apologies

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)         accepted the apology from Teresa Platt for absence.

 

 

 

2          Declaration of Interest

 

Member Max Tweedie declared an interest in Item 6 - Auckland Unlimited's support for LGBTQ+ events.

 

 

 

3          Confirmation of Minutes

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)         confirmed the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday, 19 April 2021, as a true and correct record.

 

 

 

4          Extraordinary Business

 

            There was no extraordinary business.

Panel members' and liaison councillor's updates

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      noted the liaison councillor and panel members’ updates.

Auckland Unlimited's support for LGBTQ+ events

 

A PowerPoint presentation was provided.  A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

 

Member Max Tweedie had declared an interest in this item, however, the meeting agreed that there was no conflict.

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      received the presentation from Auckland Unlimited

b)      provided feedback on how Auckland Unlimited can support LGBTQ+ events.

Stats NZ Tatauranga Aotearoa - preparations for the 2023 Census

 

A PowerPoint presentation was provided.  A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      received the presentation from representatives of Stats NZ Tatauranga Aotearoa.

Rob Sykes (He/Him/Ia) – Diversity & Inclusion Principal Advisor

 

A PowerPoint presentation was provided.  A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as minutes attachments.

 

Note:     changes were made to the original recommendation, adding new clause d), with the agreement of the meeting.

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      received the presentation from Rob Sykes Diversity & Inclusion Principal Advisor

b)      supported the creation and running of Rainbow competency training of all frontline Council Staff

c)      supported running development workshops with our Rainbow Staff Network members to help them progress into their careers

d)      acknowledged the previous work of Deborah James, former Head of Diversity & Inclusion.

The meeting adjourned at 7.24pm and reconvened at 7.41pm

 

 

Note:   The co-chairs accorded precedence to Item 10 – Future meeting dates for the Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel 2021-2022, at this time.

Future meeting dates for the Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel 2021-2022

 

Note:     changes were made to the original recommendation, amending clauses a), b) and c), with the agreement of the meeting.

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      confirmed meeting dates for the remainder of 2021 and 2022 with the exception of February 2022 and requested staff to look at rescheduling options for that date

b)      deferred identifying one of the remaining 2021 dates to be an open meeting plus a further two open meetings for 2022 to a later workshop

c)      deferred considering opportunities for community engagement over the remainder of their term to a later workshop.

 

 

Note:   It was agreed that a discussion of Item 9 - Panel advocacy to the council and additional work - would be held in a confidential section of the meeting.

 

 

7.47pm            The public was excluded.

 

8.35pm            The public was re-admitted.

Panel advocacy to the council and additional work

 

The Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      noted any other recent advocacy to the council

b)      agreed to request additional compensation for work carried out.

 

 

 

Note:   Item 10 - – Future meeting dates for the Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel 2021-2022 was considered prior to Item 9 - Panel advocacy to the council and additional work

 

 

 

11        Consideration of Extraordinary Items

 

There was no consideration of extraordinary items.
