Resolution number WAI/2021/21 MOVED by Member B Upchurch, seconded by Member C Howard: That the Waiheke Transport Forum: a) note the informal discussion items as below: Waiheke Transport Design Guidelines – Jose Rodriguez and Lisa Mein i) The Waiheke Local Board have received the design guide principles from the Waiheke Transport Forum through their last business meeting. ii) The local board are scheduled to review this input and work with Auckland Transport staff on next steps. iii) Auckland transport staff will provide a brief update to the Waiheke Transport Forum on status of the overall project.
Lisa Mein from Auckland Transport provided an update on work as it has progressed. Noted have yet to take to subject matters experts at Auckland Transport for feedback.
Presented outline map, descriptor of three level road system, Arterial Roads, Village treatment, Feeder Roads are key connector roads, Beachfront Roads, Local Roads, Rural Roads, Wharves, Bus shelters, Seating, Lighting, Signage, Stormwater management:
Discussion points:
Member Norm Robins Local roads need minimum width of 5m as enables water tanker delivery and safety of car passing. Seek to have consistency with AT terminology suggest be Connector Roads. Clarification on McCullum chip – WTF member think source may be in short supply. Member Don McKenzie With respect to Dark Skies are people aware of yellow spectrum end versus blue spectrum. Member Chris Howard Feeder Roads sought clarification on Arterial Road with respect to the freight route to Kennedy Point goes past high school. Clarification around parking and concept of park and ride definition in relation to wharf. Member Richard La Ville Bus stops, note is some resistance from some about visual impact on views. Deputy Chairperson Grant Crawford Consideration about bus pull in spaces/bays on arterials, consideration around wharves and their associated infrastructure. Mark Inglis - Advisor Made comment on some concern previously expressed on use of sleepers as a means of defining cycle way. Noted AT will doing a presentation update to the Waiheke Local Board based on tonight’s information.
Lisa Mein – Auckland Transport Will be developing aspects around specific walkways / pathways for future presentation.

Owhanake Carpark Time Restrictions – Richard La Ville An action that has been working through system, are installing signage for 48hrs term parking.
Matiatia Wharf Upgrade – Richard La Ville Gangway replacements. Tender has been let for a design and build contract. Proposed design will come to Waiheke Transport Forum and Waiheke Local Board for their information.
Te Huruhi Primary School Proposed Crossing Consultation – Richard La Ville Acknowledge feedback was received from Waiheke Transport Forum members. Is going through initial internal review.
Safe Speed Review Tranche 2A – Mark Inglis Is currently scheduled for August/September. Also looking to work through resident and rate payers groups to get perspectives.
