Resolution number GBI/2021/85 MOVED by Chairperson I Fordham, seconded by Member S Daly: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) support the draft Statement of Proposal in Attachment A of this agenda report to make a new Auckland Council and Auckland Transport Ture ā-Rohe mo nga Tohu 2022 / Signs Bylaw 2022 and associated controls for public consultation and provide the following feedback: i) request that minimisation of light pollution to protect our nocturnal biodiversity be considered as part of the bylaw through methods such as directional lighting, timers on lighting and low-wattage lighting. ii) support the prevention of visual clutter and enabling the proactive removal of obsolete signage. |

Aotea / Great Barrier Island Destination Management Plan - Auckland Unlimited |

Resolution number GBI/2021/91 MOVED by Chairperson I Fordham, seconded by Deputy Chairperson L Coles: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) support the development of the Aotea / Great Barrier Island Destination Management Plan as per Attachment A to the agenda report. b) note that the stakeholder engagement for the Aotea / Great Barrier Island Destination Management Plan has begun with surveys and meetings in July and endorse all the remaining next key steps for engagement and development. c) recommend engagement with mana whenua be facilitated through Kawa and Motairehe marae. d) confirm interest in reviewing the near final draft Aotea/ Great Barrier Island Destination Management plan and having input before finalisation. e) note that the island is unique and does not fit other models and request that the Aotea/ Great Barrier Island Destination Management Plan will need to be bespoke for the island. f) acknowledge the existing Aotea Great Barrier Visitor Strategy developed by New Zealand Tourism and Research Institute (NZTRI) in conjunction with mana whenua, community and stakeholders in 2018 and are looking forward to developing this further through the Aotea / Great Barrier Island Destination Management Plan. g) thank Lucy Dixon and Destination Great Barrier Island Trust for all their hard mahi in getting the Aotea/ Great Barrier Island Destination Management Plan underway. |
