Note: The Chairperson had requested the Deputy Chairperson preside over the meeting. The members agreed to this, therefore, Deputy Chairperson L Coles presided.
Deputy Chairperson L Coles opened the meeting and welcomed attendees. Member V Toki led the meeting in karakia.

Public feedback on proposal to amend the Animal Management Bylaw 2015 |

Resolution number GBI/2021/115 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson L Coles, seconded by Member P O'Shea: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) receive the report and note there was no public feedback from the Aotea / Great Barrier area on the proposal to amend Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau Te Ture-ā-rohe Tiaki Kararehe 2015 / Auckland Council Animal Management Bylaw 2015 and associated controls in this agenda report. b) note the local board’s interest in exploring how domestic cats may be managed in a more accountable manner through aspects such as microchipping and desexing. c) thank Saralee Gore - Policy Advisor for her work on the Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau Te Ture-ā-rohe Tiaki Kararehe 2015 / Auckland Council Animal Management Bylaw 2015 and associated controls. |

Resolution number GBI/2021/117 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson L Coles, seconded by Member P O'Shea: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) support the draft Tāmaki Tauawhi Kaumātua – Age-friendly Auckland Action Plan and note that: i) Aotea / Great Barrier has the highest elderly population per capita than any other local board area and welcomes opportunities for shared learnings. ii) The island’s marae and community groups Aotea Family Support Group and Aotea Health Trust provide amazing care to promote wellbeing, resilience and social connectiveness for our kaumatua and elderly residents. |

Local board feedback on Auckland Transport's Parking Strategy Review |

Resolution number GBI/2021/119 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson L Coles, seconded by Member V Toki: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) provide the following feedback on the review of Auckland Transport’s Parking Strategy by 30 September 2021, ahead of public consultation: i) We are in a climate change emergency and support moving into low carbon, resilient and sustainable practices. ii) Equity concerns need to be taken into account so that people are not disproportionately disadvantaged in their opportunities to travel around Tāmaki Makaurau. iii) Note that the Auckland airport and ferry ports are key access points to and from Aotea Great Barrier and the parking strategy needs to give consideration to the provision of long term affordable parking options around these key transport hubs. |
