Disability Advisory Panel

Otene Rewhiti, Matanga – Tikanga me Te Reo Māori opened the meeting with Karakia and welcomed Ronelle Baker (Ngāti Porou, Waikato-Tainui and Ngāpuhi), new member of the Disability Advisory Panel.

 

 

1          Apologies

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)           noted the apologies from Bonnie Robinson and Chantelle Griffiths for absence.

 

 

 

2          Declaration of Interest

 

Members were reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arose between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.

 

Co-chair Jason Boberg declared potential conflict of interest, in relation to his involvement in the Auckland Council's climate team, in a disability and climate program/ work stream.

 

 

3          Confirmation of Minutes

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)           noted the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Monday, 28 June 2021, as a true and correct record.

Auckland Local Government Elections 2022

 

Elodie Fontaine, Election Programme Manager, Litia Brighouse-Fuavao, Senior Advisor Deliberative Democracy, Simon Stewart, Election Advisor and Dale Ofsoske, Electoral Officer were in attendance.

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)      noted the attached presentation

b)      provided feedback and input on initiatives to promote and encourage participation from people with disabilities in the 2022 local election.

Members Ursula Thynne and Kramer Hoeflich retired from the meeting at 2.20pm.

 

The meeting adjouned at 2.20pm and reconvened at 2.38pm.

COVID-19 lockdown experiences of disabled people

 

Greg Morgan, Lead Officer Support, facilitated this session.

Phil Wilson, Director, Governance and CCO Partnership and Michael Quinn, Head of the Auckland Policy Office were in attendance to hear the panel’s feedback.

 

That the Disability Advisory Panel:

a)      noted the scope of the discussion to involve panel members and members of the public at the meeting.
