Minutes of a meeting of the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board held via Skype for Business on Wednesday, 20 October 2021 at 5.00pm.
This meeting will proceed via Skype for Business. As required under the COVID-19 Response (Urgent Management Measures) Act 2020, either a recording of the meeting or a written summary will be published on the Auckland Council website.

Resolution number MO/2021/133 MOVED by Chairperson L Sosene, seconded by Deputy Chairperson N Bakulich: That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board: a) confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Wednesday 15 September 2021, as a true and correct.

There were no leaves of absence.
· The passing of All Black Waka Nathan - Waka debuted for the All Blacks in 1962 on a tour of Australia where he played both tests against the Wallabies. He was a member of the All Blacks tour of Britain in 1963-64. The world-class flanker played 14 tests for the All Blacks with 14 wins in the black jersey. Waka was a former President of the Auckland Rugby Union, Patron of the Auckland Rugby Union and an Auckland Rugby Life Member. He was an Otahuhu College old boy and Life member of the Otahuhu Rugby Club.
· Mangere Mountain Education Trust has advised that the current General Manager Fraser Alaalatoa Dale has resigned and his last day will be this Friday. The board thank and acknowledge Fraser Alaalatoa Dale for his work at MMET and wish him the very best in future endeavours.
· Thank you to the community and the board for the wonderful work that was carried out regarding the vaccination project. Board members were instrumental in supporting the community.
· The passing of Kafoa Latu who died during a paddling accident in the Manukau Harbour over the weekend. He participated and coached at the Portage Crossing Canoe Club.

Resolution number MO/2021/139 MOVED by Chairperson L Sosene, seconded by Member W Togiamua: That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board: a) approves the name ‘Whānui Place’ for the new private road created by way of subdivision at 62, 64, 66 and 66A Taylor Road, Mangere Bridge, in accordance with section 319(1)(j) of the Local Government Act 1974 (resource consent references BUN60373098 and SUB60373140, and road naming reference RDN90095762). |

Social Impact Fund Allocation Committee – establish a local board joint committee to make appointments |

Resolution number MO/2021/140 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson N Bakulich, seconded by Member C O'Brien: That the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board: a) note the delegation from the Governing Body: That the Governing Body: a) delegate to a joint committee established by the Manurewa, Papakura, Māngere-Ōtāhuhu and Ōtara-Papatoetoe local boards, the power to make two Auckland Council appointments to the Wiri Prison Social Impact Fund Allocations Committee subject to: i) southern ward councillors having attendance and speaking rights ii) the Independent Māori Statutory Board having the ability to appoint two members b) agree that this delegation continues until it is revoked or changed by the Governing Body b) agree to the terms of reference for the joint local board committee as set out in Attachment A c) delegate to the chair and deputy chair authority to agree to minor changes proposed by other participating local boards d) subject to the draft terms of reference, with any approved minor changes, being agreed by all participating local boards, appoint the chairperson to the joint committee.
