Resolution number WHK/2021/115 MOVED by Chairperson C Handley, seconded by Member R Tucker: That the Waiheke Local Board: b) note that in relation to the Delta variant of Covid-19 it has been communicated by Government that there is a higher risk of potential transmission of the virus indoors and while in closer proximities of persons. c) note that Auckland Transport operators are indicating that close to 90% of their staff and other AT operators are now vaccinated, and the local board: i. request that Government mandate that public facing staff on all public transport services of buses, trains and ferries are required to be fully vaccinated given the higher risk of Covid-19 transmission if unvaccinated, and to give passengers a higher degree of certainty and to encourage patronage on public transport. ii. request that Government give clarity to the requirement of seated physical distancing on public transport services under the upcoming “Traffic light” Covid-19 management framework with clear demarcation of spaced seating arrangements on public transport vehicles as previously required, in order to reduce risks of transmission of covid-19 in enclosed spaces and to encourage patronage on public transport. iii. request that Government prohibit the consumption of food and drink by all passengers over 12 years old on all public transport, ferries and airline journeys within New Zealand to discourage the removal of masks. iv. request that this motion be copied to other local boards and the Governing Body to seek their formal endorsement of this motion of the Waiheke Local Board. |
