Resolution number ECC/2022/52 MOVED by Cr R Hills, seconded by Cr L Cooper: That the Environment and Climate Change Committee: a) accept apologies from Cr A Filipaina for absence and Cr C Fletcher and Cr L Cooper for early departure on council business. |
Cr C Darby subsequently advised the meeting that he had participated in the application process but had no conflict with Item 11 - Regional Streets for People Programme.

Too Much Water - A statement of Auckland Council's current role and direction |

Note: changes to the original recommendation, amending clause b) and new clause c), were made as a Chairperson’s recommendation. Cr L Cooper left the meeting at 11.58am. |

Resolution number ECC/2022/55 MOVED by Cr R Hills, seconded by Cr L Cooper: That the Environment and Climate Change Committee: a) whakaae / approve the “Too Much Water – A statement of Auckland Council’s current role and direction” outlined in Attachment A of the agenda report, as an accurate representation of council’s current response to the water-related impacts of climate change. b) whakaae / agree that staff, as delegated by the Chief Executive, report back to the relevant committee with a draft adaptive pathways blueprint that will outline a regional too much water response, by May 2023. c) tuku mana / delegate authority through the Chief Executive to the General Manager of Social and Community Policy, to make changes and amendments to the wording of the document in Attachment A to reduce the number of reference to “too much water” and instead refer to the water-related impacts of climate change. |

Resolution number ECC/2022/56 MOVED by Cr W Walker, seconded by Cr J Watson: That the Environment and Climate Change Committee: a) whakaae /approve the Whangaparāoa Pilot Shoreline Adaptation Plan. b) tuhi/note that the Whangaparāoa Pilot Shoreline Adaptation Plan provides site-specific adaptive strategies that outline the preferred coastal management response for each site over time c) tuhi/note that to implement the Whangaparāoa Shoreline Adaptation Plan, adaptive strategies will need to be integrated into relevant Asset Management Plans to inform the maintenance and renewal of assets: i) where strategies can be implemented through existing budgets, this will be integrated from now; ii) where strategies require additional budget, this will be subject to a regional prioritisation process for funding once all Shoreline Adaptation Plans have been completed. |

Resolution number ECC/2022/58 MOVED by Cr P Coom, seconded by Cr A Dalton: That the Environment and Climate Change Committee: a) whakaae/approve the Auckland Council submission (Attachment C of the agenda report) to the Department of Conservation on the proposed Hākaimangō-Matiatia marine reserve application, northwest Waiheke Island, subject to minor editorial changes. b) tuku mana/delegate authority to the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Environment and Climate Change Committee, and a member of the Independent Māori Statutory Board, to approve the final Auckland Council submission on the proposed Hākaimangō-Matiatia marine reserve application, northwest Waiheke Island. |
