File No.: CP2022/13913

Purpose of the report

1.      To amend the Randwick Park Skate Activation work programme item to provide a more complementary activation programme at Randwick Park.

Whakarāpopototanga matua

Executive summary

2.      The 2022/2023 Manurewa Customer and Community Services work programme includes $18,000 LDI Opex for delivery of custodian and activation services for the Randwick Park skate park that contribute to a safe, active, and positive skate park environment.

3.      The Randwick skate park custodian initiative has worked well in the past, but due to the last custodian leaving the role and staff being unable to secure a replacement, the service was not provided for FY2021/2022.

4.      At the Manurewa Local Board workshop on 25 August 2022, staff discussed several options with members to better utilise the existing custodian budget in FY2022/2023.

5.      The board’s preferred option was to repurpose the existing $18,000 annual budget into a more integrated activation fund targeted in and around Manu Tukutuku and the wider Randwick Park community. Some of the new delivery will include skate park activations, alongside a broader activation programme for the whole park

6.      The adopted work programme needs to be amended to reflect the change in direction.

7.      Active Recreation staff have provided a memo to the board (Attachment A) outlining this proposal.
