6.1

Acknowledgement - Passing of Mason Ngawhika

 

Resolution number MR/2022/158

MOVED by Deputy Chairperson M Winiata, seconded by Member R McLean:  

That the Manurewa Local Board:

a)         acknowledge the passing of Mason Ngawhika.

Mason had worked with previous local boards in Manurewa within his role at the Cause Collective.

Mason’s vision for his role with the community was that “one day mana whenua have the resources and influence to practice manaakitanga to those of us who live within their whenua and, that due to systemic modifications, Māori find ourselves in the truly privileged position to assist non-Māori and other communities to close the gaps in order to achieve health equity.”

Acknowledgement – Passing of Mark Franklin

That the Manurewa Local Board:

a)         acknowledge the passing of Tātaki Auckland Unlimited chairperson Mark Franklin.

Note:   The board stood and observed a moment of silence for the passing of Mason Ngawhika and Mark Franklin.

 

 

6.3

Acknowledgement – Manurewa Sports Teams

That the Manurewa Local Board:

a)         acknowledge the success of the following sports teams in Manurewa for this year:

·         Manurewa Rugby FC Men’s – Counties Manukau Champions 2022

·         Manurewa Marlins Women’s ARL Championship Winning team 2022

·         Manurewa Marlins Women’s ARL Premiership Winning team 2022

·         Manurewa High School Girls Secondary School Rugby League Champions 2022

·         Manurewa High School Boys Secondary School Rugby League Champions 2022

·         Manurewa AFC 1st Team promotion to Premier Division Northern League 2022

·         Manurewa AFC Women’s XI Knockout Tournament Winners 2022

·         All the other teams at both junior and senior level that had a fantastic 2022 season, and the tireless work of coaches, volunteers, mums, dads, spouses and family that supported our champions. Thank you all.

These are outstanding results across our community that inspire the youth of our community to achieve, succeed and dream big.

Petition - Housing Intensification

 

Amosa So’oula presented a petition on behalf of the residents of Borough Road, Manurewa regarding the increase in housing intensification.

Daniel Barthow and Dawn Crispe from the Beautification Trust were in attendance to provide the board with an update on the work that they have undertaken in the past financial year.

Local board appointments and delegations for the 2022-2025 electoral term

That the Manurewa Local Board:

a)      kopou / appoint Glenn Murphy, and Matt Winiata as an alternate, for staff consultations over landowner approval applications (excluding applications for filming and events)

b)      kopou / appoint Glenn Murphy, and Matt Winiata as an alternate, for staff consultation on applications for filming, events and other activities on local parks and local facilities that also require regulatory approval;

c)      kopou / appoint Matt Winiata, and Joseph Allan as an alternate, for liquor licence matters and delegate authority to that member, including any alternate, to prepare and provide objections, if any, and speak to any local board views at any hearings on applications for liquor licences

d)      kopou / appoint Matt Winiata, and Glenn Murphy as an alternate, on resource consent matters and delegate authority to that member, including any alternate, to:

(i)         provide the local board views, if any, on whether a resource consent should proceed as a non-notified, limited notified or fully notified application

(ii)        prepare and provide local board’s views, if any, on notified resource consents and speak to those views at any hearings if required

(iii)       provide the local board’s views on matters relating to or generated by the COVID-19 (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020 while this legislation remains in force

That the Manurewa Local Board:

a)      delegate authority to the chairperson and deputy chairperson, or any person acting in these roles, to make urgent decisions on behalf of the local board, if the local board is unable to meet

b)      confirm that the Local Area Manager, chairperson, and deputy chairperson (or any person/s acting in these roles) will authorise the use of the local board’s urgent decision mechanism by approving the request for an urgent decision in writing

c)      note that all urgent decisions made, including written advice which supported these decisions, will be included on the agenda of the next ordinary meeting of the local board.
