Annual Budget 2023/2024 - feedback on regional topic for consultation |
Resolution number WHK/2022/181 MOVED by Chairperson C Handley, seconded by Member R Tucker: That the Waiheke Local Board: a) whakarite / provide the following feedback on potential regional consultation topics and policies for the Annual Budget 2023/2024: i) The Waiheke Local Board does not support the proposed 5% reduction to Local Board opex budget. Waiheke’s Locally Driven Initiatives (LDI) budget is already very small and is only focused on local delivery of projects which support the council’s direction and the local board plan, and any reduction will have a disproportionate impact on Waiheke. This includes core services and facilities including environmental and social services and any reduction and even a pause in these longitudinal activities will cause environmental degradation, and social harm to our most vulnerable communities. ii) A high proportion of Waiheke Local Board’s LDI budget is focused on delivering initiatives that our community has identified as a priority to them during community consultation and are delivered utilising the empowered communities model which the council has enabled. The model also supports local employment which our economy depends on due to our isolated nature. This isolation also impacts our ability to access services across the region. iii) Recommend Auckland Transport investigate park and ride fee options for regional revenue generation. iv) Recommend the public be given a clear choice between a 7% rates rise with retention of the previously consultation targeted rates (Natural Environment Targeted Rate and Water Quality Targeted Rate) or a 4.66% rates rise combined with a pause for one year of the previously consultation targeted rates. b) note further feedback will be provided following public consultation. c) note an additional meeting has been scheduled for 8 February 2023 to approve local consultation content for the Annual Budget 2023/2024 if required.

Auckland Council’s Performance Report: Waiheke Local Board for quarter one 2022/2023 |
Resolution number WHK/2022/182 MOVED by Member K Matthews, seconded by Member R Tucker: That the Waiheke Local Board: a) receive the performance report for quarter one ending 30 September 2022. b) reallocate $5,000 from the FY23 Event Partnership LDI (locally driven initiatives) budget to the community grants budget as the Waiheke Community Cinema Trust will be utilising FY22 funding for this year’s event. c) approve the allocation of up to $22,000 from the FY23 Waiheke Community Pool Development LDI (locally driven initiatives) budget to the Waiheke Pool Society to support installation of shade sails at the pool, noting this will come from the overall budget allocation of $313,000 and therefore reduces the amount available for pool redevelopment, and will be subject to any Ministry of Education approval required.
